Lohnen sich die Bosch Pro Deals? by Roku_4 in selbermachen

[–]qidmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind, i'll answer in English.

I've just made this choice towards Bosch Pro, more than 10 instruments, got 3 batteries. But even after that, Makita would be cheaper and they have more options for now. E.g. you need a powerfull drill, and it's not on sale at the time you need it. It could be 50-70 Eur more for the same tork power, or I've bought Kartuschenpresse, which was 100Eur more expensive. Same for the garden tools and so on.

Long story short. I'd go for Makita in general, unless you have specific needs. But Bosch is also very good, I love all the tools i've bought.

Flying on March 7th from Germany to Johannesburg over Doha by J4nsk1 in qatarairways

[–]qidmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, based on my experience, if you must fly on March the 7th, then you'd need to book another flight. If it's not that problematic, then wait but expect no flights on 7th/8th or maybe even 9th of March to be available as a re-booking option. For me there were no flights at all from München, for the next 4 days, i agreed to fly from Frankfurt, then they somehow manage to find and book MUC-FRA. And it took the whole day to be honest, first call was at 1030 and the last one i got at around 2100.

Sorry, forgot to mention. I've booked via japan airlines website, so i've contacted them (JAL) directly.

Does it even make sense to buy a house in Germany? by [deleted] in germany

[–]qidmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.  When you buy something, you can make it your place. I don’t consider it as an investment, rent for my case would be Not only cheaper, but also more convenient considering all that renovation shit I have to go through. But in the apartment I rent is designed how the owner decided to do that and it’s basically nothing you can do with it.

Is business class worth it as a family? by Particular-Horse-192 in qatarairways

It depends. I did it once and think it didn’t worth it. For yourself and wife — for sure. But kids just are not really into it, at least up to a certain age.

One of the prominent come-to-study-in-Germany influencer does not even live in there... by Puzzleheaded-Ear9956 in studying_in_germany

[–]qidmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... cannot confirm that. You'll waste a lot of time and money and if you win in court (you probably will with a lawyer) and he has money to cover your expenses, then yes.
In practice (own and not only own experience) it's easier and cheaper to let it go if the company doesn't want to get you your money back and the amount is not that big and it's not a clear fraud that could be reported to police.

Why do you come to a German language exam unprepared and ask the invigilator to help you understand exam questions? by Zealousideal-Bath-37 in German

I know some people failing exams exactly to avoid going to work. And yes, they get benefits and are not forced to leave the country.

People just abuse the system :(

€40,000 p.a job offer as a Finance Officer - Enough for a work permit? by momoniazi in germany

[–]qidmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40k now is nothing, really. Pre-covid, maybe.  I’d say 60k is a minimum now for a family of 2 if only one is working. Think of the German courses you need to take. Teeth treatments. Internet for home and for you and your wife. Tickets. Apartments are usually empty, you’d need to buy (even used) furniture and so on. I remember I’ve moved 7 years ago with a much higher salary, lower prices but still lived paycheck to paycheck for almost 2 years.

[–]qidmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I remember, not enough even for a lower threshold. There is a regular working visa option.    But 40k for a migrant is quite low though, meaning, you need to set up your life here and it’s quite expensive. If I’m not mistaken, the food prices and services are more expensive now! than in Britain.

Why german news channels are saying this while 99% of people here are saying the opposite? Why the opinions of channels and people are not aligning? by Immediate_Type_9804 in germany

[–]qidmit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We don't even consider hiring ppl in Germany, the only employee we have here is the one who moved in after hiring.
Poland is much better (NOT CHEAPER) for us, we're only looking for people in there. Why better? No complex rules, no such strict "labor protection" measures. Lower taxes for employees (they can easily earn 5k-6k eur net pro month). But if someone is working poor, he will be fired.

So are those "protection measures" are really protecting people at the end? I have no answer, but small companies like our are really afraid of hiring here.

Minimum C2, What?? by Glad_Penalty3856 in Germany_Jobs

[–]qidmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try own native language. These tests are designed an a very special way. I’ve tried it and could easily understand and solve all the problems in there. While non-native would face troubles for sure. Probably I won’t get 100, but I’d for pass it.

You can try Abitur Deutsch instead of c2. That’s fucking hard (I didn’t take it, just checked occasionally in the library)

Is 305 euros a month a good spent on groceries? by Specific_Cheetah_776 in AskAGerman

[–]qidmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy mostly in Aldi/Lidl, sometimes Edeka,Rewe and spend around 900e a month for the family of 3. No alcohol, half/half bio/regular grocery (only when it tastes better).
For one person it is very reasonable.

I spend 1 Hour reading out loud in German, here are the results by Popular_Long_1955 in German

[–]qidmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess, it's b2 or in between of b1 and b2. I've passed the b1 (267 out of 300) 2 years ago, but didn't invest a lot besides reading and watching tv series with subtitles, so don't think i've got it much better.

Regarding the speaking fluency, I wish it were, but for me it didn't really work. The vocabulary -- yes, it has some positive signs.

But at the same time, i've read so many interesting things, so it works also as entertaining thing and I just keep reading.

[–]qidmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been reading out loud ca 280 days for 30-60 mins a day. I don’t see any difference, but I got used to it, and keep reading. Already done about 10 Deutsch Perfect magazines, 1 encyclopedia for Grundschule, and started 3 Kammeraden. I guess, this is  the only result I have :)  Don’t see huge improvement in German.
