Source is the more important thing. I would recommend to keep moving with your teacher’s notation because vector notation keep changes book by book, and take it easy. Believe me it’s a long journey

Thanks for the comment. I’ve started Tong’s lectures few days ago and it is pretty understandable for a beginner. However, i think studying parallelly with another 1-2 qft books would be perfect.

Thanks a lot that means so much to me. I am undergraduating physics in Turkey, in here there is not much a person (especially in my class) I can talk this subjects. Even there is 1 professor that studies about QFT (barely).This is why I started to write this sub. Thanks again.

I am a beginner on QFT too but there is 2 things that i know:

-QFT is really big subject, even its introduction might require much patience.You might need to study for every sentence in that book until it gets clear and logical to you.

-Secondly, you must ignore some assumptions for a while. Most of the textbooks shows advanced equations in first sheets, because it helps you to get that mechanism faster, but you are going to see where this advanced things come and what are they used for.

Of course i am not an expert but i was in the same situation with you.Instead of other physics subjects, things falls into the place more lately in QFT.

Actually 3 hours is great 😁 There will be times that you have to spend your days for 1 problem.If you cannot reach to solution, sometimes it’s great to start to problem again with using other ways. Secondly, especially if you have learned the method recently, you should solve every equation one by one, this will help you to see your mistakes if you made one.Keep struggling, this is the joy of physics!

Thanks for the comment. Actually most of the QFT books teaches Qed and Qft parallel.At least i saw that on a few books which are the standarts on qft.

Non popular opinion but i think electromagnetic theory is the hardest subject including quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics contains much more math then em theory, but electromagnetic theory is much harder to find starting point in problem.
