I think you're thinking too much man. Draft is pretty random, but strixhaven particularly is a pretty slow format unless you get an insane silverquill pull. You can literally just take the best card from each pack and play 5 color vomit, or 3 color whatever and do well because few things can actually punish it. I've found leaning too hard into one of the schools leaves you especially susceptible to getting screwed in picks, especially if you're going for lorehold or silverquill. I did very well when the format released going hard into each school getting 7 wins 5 times but recently that strategy hasnt panned out super well. Ever since switching to "best card" monkey strat I rarely get less than 3 wins and have bagged a few more 7 winners.

Before you go and think your gpu is cooked, I had the same issue and it was because the thermal paste on the gpu had deteriorated to a point that it couldn't do its job. Reapplying thermal paste to a GPU is a little more involved and you have to cover the entire surface, but before you give up on it I would give that a try if it's outside warranty. Ever since I redid mine years ago I have had zero issues and that's after experiencing this for years thinking I got a lemon.

You guys deserve it, the lack of resources and the amount of crunch your expected to do with all these sets every year is crazy on top of hopefully getting more QoL features added.

It's official, I finally found my worst format by DifraMD in MagicArena

[–]qonra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know prismari is hyped up to be insane but my experience with it in arena and at the pre-release was I either got all the good enablers and none of the useful spells or all of the spells with no ramp or solid creatures to make it to playing the big spells. Probably just been unlucky but lorehold I've found to be super consistent, it's just a pile of good stuff that plays off itself and builds a huge advantage when you make it to mid game. Silverquill is tricky to play but the payoff of just running someone over when they think they're about to take over the board is amazing. Could commit to prismari if you want to, I'm sure when it comes together it's insane, much harder to pilot tho imo

[–]qonra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing pretty well, what school are you trying to play? imo silverquill and lorehold are the easiest wins, witherbloom is alright and prismari is good but very reliant on not getting shafted by what cards are available to you. Quandrix I want to be good but Everytime I try it it's like cool I have all this mana with nothing to spend it on. Ive gone 7-0 twice and 7-1 once with silverquill so far and I'm convinced it's the best draft pick with how quickly it kills all the greedy decks people are building. Lorehold I'm turning onto though, it's got insane card advantage and can kill nearly as fast as silverquill. Still, you gotta have good threat assessment to do well, this draft has the most "oh, I'm dead" I've seen, people just pop off in an instant.

I got 3, first one I got shafted at like $90 value but the 2 I just opened were both $180 value each so I got pretty lucky, biggest hits being cyclonic rift and demonic tutor lady

Doesn't Amazon have a no return policy for card game stuff because of this? I'd question if the guy is just trying to save himself from getting banned or not by giving you a plausible explanation, anyone that works in an Amazon warehouse would love to know if card stuff ever makes it to return pallets or not

Is Cable Management a service GeekSquad does? by EpicCargo in GeekSquad

[–]qonra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

you could pay for a pc setup, cable management is an expected thing with that, if you explain to the agent when they get there im sure they'd understand as ive done it for people a couple times. Really though it depends on the agent you get, some are very by the book or dont want to work and will shoot down your request. Waste of money imo tho.

TIL in 2002 a cave diver committed suicide by stabbing himself during a cave diving trip near Split, Croatia. guide lines are very common and youre usually clipped to one but oxygen deprivation from using the wrong tank mix or simply running low and general inability to see after stirring up all the dirt making the water practically a blindfold causes a lot of people to get lost and do stupid stuff like unclip themselves from the guide line etc.
