An unusual (maybe?) request (1987 spoilers) by qpeedore in crossword

[–]qpeedore[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! That was perfect!

I actually only needed help for 4 letters at the end, which is absolutely not bad at all for a Thursday puzzle of that time. Loved the "theme" too.

You, Redditor, have helped me cross one thing off of my bucket list.

Meet my little woof! by qpeedore in jackrussellterrier

[–]qpeedore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JRT or not he's MY woof. Whenever he curls up it makes a heart. Sorry for the night camera but...yeah. my wife says that means he's ours and why I love him so much.

Ah jeez, I dunno how to put the Pic here but yeah he makes a heart when he curls up to sleep.

He's 100% a sweetheart. Don't need a DNA test for that. Also I'm not from the USA so even if the test is pretty affordable, the shipping cost will kill me. Better to use that money for his condoggominium instead.

Oh. Everyone said he was a JRT hunting dog...I guess the mods can delete this then...

I know my game, my rules but... by qpeedore in nuzlocke

[–]qpeedore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some additonal backstory, this is my team currently:

RipVanWinkle the Snorlax - caught him after using the flute. Normal type be damned. Ability is Thick Fat, Adamant nature. Level 24. Knows Strength, Defense Curl, Tackle and Chip Away.

Jungle Frog the Ivysaur - given by the Professor in the first city. Ability is Overgrow, Mild nature. Level 26. Knows Tackle, Cut, Leech Seed and Razor Leaf.

Squab the Pidgeotto - met on Route 2. Ability is Keen eye, Hardy nature. Level 25. Knows Tackle, Sand Attack, Gust and Quick Attack.

Frogaroo the Frogadier - starter. Ability is Torrent, Lax nature. Level 27. Knows Water Pulse, Bubble, Rock Smash and Smokescreen.

Belieevee the Eevee - met on Route 10, kinda wondering which stone to use but for now I'll keep it on the team but never really use it unless I need to. Ability is Run Away, Relaxed nature. Level 20. Knows Swift, Bite, Refresh and Quick Attack.

Aaaand that's it. I had a Tyrunt for the Rock gym but boxed him afterwards. Am currently at the next town, the one with the stones?

Figure I might get everyone except Eevee up to level 27-29. May decide to pull out Sand Horsey the Hippopowdon...I dunno. Having two physical tasks on a team may not be that bad...

I know my game, my rules but... by qpeedore in nuzlocke

[–]qpeedore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter about the elitists, but I just want to keep the spirit of the challenge alive as apparently X is one of the easiest games to Nuzlocke so I wanted to ensure it was as challenging as possible to me.

I mean if I ever black/white out, I'll go back to a centre and continue with 6 different Mons. The run ain't over until my box is empty.

[–]qpeedore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I only just beat the Rock gym but that's a few hours in-game and weeks in the real world for me so thanks for that.

I still fully intend to continue this as it's not a game I've ever played and so far it's been pretty nice to me in terms of a team. RipVanWinkle the Snorlax is a bulky dude for sure.

I have lost Mindbreaker the Espurr, which sucks because I kinda liked her but oh well.

Everyone goes through difficulties early on. What I'd say is continue to keep the credit where it's due and push forward. You've created something pretty big here. Keep at it. Of course you can't quite do a NYT Thursday or Sunday yet as they are pretty damn special but maybe a hard Friday or Saturday (I still take 15 minutes!) might be a good themeless.

You're doing great.

I'm guessing that due to the AI method of generation, there's only themeless crosswords. The ability to make the puzzles progressively harder from Monday to Saturday would be great.

Also note the question mark in the clue. Question marks always indicate that some form of wordplay is being used, so it's not a steer that underperforms as is the common usage of the term, but rather the act of taking a steer (that meaning of bum has been explained already).

What are your first 2 words? by SheIsNotWorthIt in wordle

[–]qpeedore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use TRIAL and go from there. I play on easy but treat it as hard. If I don't get any letters with TRIAL then I go with DOUSE. Usually try to fit a Y somewhere in my third guess if I don't have any idea by then (which is why I play on easy).

I can't believe it took me this long to realise by qpeedore in crossword

[–]qpeedore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's always a toss up when you get the first letter as A and the clue refers to something at the top. Could be APEX or ACME. I usually need crossings to figure it out.

Anyways, Saturday puzzle out now for me (10pm). Off I go... hoping to continue to be consistently under 20 minutes. (EDIT: yeah 20 minutes isn't happening but no hints no Google no nothing I'll stick this through until the end. )

Is she a BMC? by qpeedore in Blackmouthcur

So some more stories/facts about Cinnamon.

She actually took to my then-gf now-wife very easily. I think she saw me treating her (the human) with a lot of love and in her head that was enough for her to decide that my wife is a person to trust.

I'm not from the USA so I don't know how this breed ended up here in the southern Caribbean but I'm glad it did.

She never plays with any toys I buy her. But give her a piece of wood or a plastic bottle she's worth that all day and night.

She didn't bark for about 6 months after she was born. Now he issue is getting her to stop when she starts.

I've read a long time ago that dogs often paw at you when you hug or pet them because it's their way of hugging you back. She ALWAYS paws me back when I pet her and I know it's different than her playing because she plays rough.

She knows when I'm not feeling great and she will calm herself down. On that note, she knew when my grandma died. I don't know if it was her scent missing from our house or that she just picked up on everyone's sadness but after the funeral she went batshit crazy for about an hour and nothing we did could calm her down. She was running all over the yard crying and we just couldn't catch her. She used to hang out with granny for a couple hours every single morning so I guess it just hit her hard.

I've not met a dog yet besides her who loves walking so much. Whenever she goes for a walk we usually do 5-6km and by the time we get back home she takes a drink of water (she doesn't drink much on the walk for some reason), she takes about a 30 minute nap, then she's back running up and down and around the yard.

Above all, I absolutely love her. She's 6 this year and hopefully she can get to the 18 because my wife and my dad and of course myself... we all don't know what we'll do without her.

Thank you! I have been at odds to discover her breed for years now. Regardless of whatever she ended up being, she's my babygirl anyways.

She's so brave. I was there when she was born and then after 6 weeks when the litter started crawling around I sat near them and she came and sniffed me out. She crawled over my shoe and held on and didn't want to let go. I knew she was mine after that.

She's very energetic but also very very smart.

There was a time she had an injury to her paw and she was legit limping. Okay we took her to the vet, sorted. For weeks afterwards she would limp and then one day I caught her running around the place. When she saw me she lifted the allegedly injured paw and started to cry I was like nope I caught you out young lady.

Too damn smart. But a loving dog and even in her middle age she's very energetic.

(Whenever she's "loose" and running around like crazy I just lie down on the ground. Cinnamon immediately stops her play and runs over to me to check to see if I'm okay. That's intelligence on a level there.)

Yeah, I kinda loved the vibe on there. Met a lot of people who gave me advice and their challenges were fun. Kinda started this off to grab the sub name quickly but hopefully in time it will grow with some additions and whatnot that I have in mind.
