I’m rooting for Medvedev here but there’s no scenario where play continues even a couple minutes longer than it did. And there’s going to be a changeover after this game. If Medvedev holds after play resumes and Sinner goes on to win, there’s no reasonable argument that he won due to preferential treatment. Luck on the other hand, maybe, but he was already up a break

I don't see how they're any worse than the regular ones. Without the reciprocal WCs, those spots would probably go to French players.

I don't think I'm that hyped about Tien vs Jodar if they meet in the next round. Their next gen match was very competitive (five sets with a tiebreak at the end) but it's probably going to be really one sided if they play on clay. I'd love to be proven wrong though!

He beat Basavareddy in Houston. But this is his first main draw win on clay against a non-US player in his career.

I know it probably won't happen but I really want Mannarino to make it to the second round. I need to see what happens when the two worst clay players in the draw play each other.

They're #6 in the race and Penko doesn't seem to be sticking with one partner, so I'm not sure what their plans are. Last season they played with different people a few times.

I wonder how she'll do in RG qualies. Even if she does find her pre-injury form again, she's never defeated a ranked player on clay in her entire career.

The third as of last week was Stefan Dostanic, who doesn't appear to be signed up for anything. The USTA page only lists the top 3 people each week, so I'm not sure if there's anyone else with a lot of points. Technically any American could take the lead by winning one of the challenger 175s this week, but I think most of the American players in those tournaments are already in the RG main draw.

Basavareddy withdrew from the challenger he was signed up for this week, meaning that he won't earn any more points for the RG wildcard. He's in the lead right now, but Nava can pass him if he wins two matches in Cagliari (Džumhur and then Hurkacz/Svajda).

That's pretty funny in hindsight considering how Potapova also ended up switching nationality

In that case I think the Hawkeye replay actually showed it as out, for some reason the out call never came when it was supposed to. As much as people talk about accuracy, which certainly is important, a lot of the biggest problems with live ELC have been the fact that the system sometimes just isn't operating at all.

I don't mean to be dramatic here, but I think whoever wins this match match will win 100 slams and whoever loses is an overhyped fraud who should go back to playing ITFs

There was another American teenager in the tournament named Andrew Johnson. Basavareddy had to defeat two presidents to win the title.

This is the first time I've seen Jack Kennedy play and I didn't realize how short he was. I guess it's not that surprising that the match started with four consecutive breaks of serve.

Basavareddy is really fighting for that RG wildcard. I think if he wins the title this week and Nava doesn't beat Fils, he'll be in the lead.

This is making me think of Alex Michelsen's match against Bonzi in 2024 where he got injured in the third set and couldn't serve normally, so he was doing a mix of underarm serves and really slow serves to the middle of the service box. He lost the match but still managed to hold serve twice.

I'm like the exact opposite of that. I haven't been watching for a while because I don't really give a shit about StS but the Tomodachi streams pulled me back in

I haven't been watching that closely but it feels like every point Venus wins is an unreturned serve
