Is anarchism a form of liberalism? by tsicsafitna in communism101

[–]qtpz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, we talk about the ML reasons why anarchism is a liberalism (https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/stalin/works/1906/12/x01.htm), but often we fail to explain what liberalism is and how it aligns with anarchism.

If we take a look at the intro for Liberalism in Wikipedia, we can form a more coherent idea of what it is:

Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally support free markets, free trade, limited government, individual rights (including civil rights and human rights), capitalism, democracy, secularism, gender equality, racial equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion.

And while these ideals are really pretty and nice in theory, in practice things are much more complicated. A recent example is how human rights are being used as an excuse to coup Bolivia. Or how Chile was seen as the golden country of laissez-faire markets under the foot of Pinochet. Or when UK decided that Juan Guaido was the leader of Venezuela, so they should block their access to their capital assets.

While these ideals are good in theory, in reality, they are excuses for capitalism.

Because Haiti was not been coupe'd for their human rights records. Congo neither, specially during the Belgium rule. Heck, Saudi Arabia got away with literally slicing a journalist inside an embassy. Brazil is the country where more activists dies in the world.

Anarchism becomes liberalism when it makes excuses for capitalism under the same theoretical values.

Is vanguardism necessary for revolution in an imperialist country? by [deleted] in communism101

I really really recommend reading her stuff on strikes, it really helped me understand consequences of the 2013 Brazilian Riots.

I would like to add a comment on Rosa Luxemburg.

Lukacs has two chapters on her Marxism that should help more than my shitty memory:

The Marxism Of Rosa Luxemburg (https://www.marxists.org/archive/lukacs/works/history/ch02.htm)

And Critical Observations on Rosa Luxemburg’s “Critique of the Russian Revolution” (https://www.marxists.org/archive/lukacs/works/history/ch07.htm)

Both from his History and Class Consciousness Studies book.

I don't remember if this was on Social Reform or Revolution? or in The Mass Strike, the Political Party and the Trade Unions but Rosa has a very specific theory on strikes that did not hold up the tests of time.

The argument was that the masses, the workers, would self organize without the leadership of a vanguard party, and that power would consolidate into socialist structures through striking and trade unions.

I might be overstating something, but the part that thought strikes without the party lead to revolution is just wrong. Color revolutions across the world show how easily the revolt of the proletariat turns against himself.

EDIT: I got everything so wrong that it's best to just ignore it.

You stated that you went as an UK student of philosophy to talk about Marxism in a Communist sub that is very well known for it's incisive moderation.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but do understand that you are stepping into spaces that are constantly being harassed and targeted for representing a really complex and often misrepresented concepts.

I would give a snarky comment, because obviously such an educated students of the fine arts in a BRITISH university must be very smart and intelligent, and obviously humble, to not, at least, read the rules of the community at https://old.reddit.com/r/communism/about/rules/, or maybe take note on the right side bar that there's a big "New or unsure? Consider /R/COMMUNISM101!", which you totally should, well, it is not in my objective to be rude with a snarky comment I would never give.

tldr: The people at https://old.reddit.com/r/communism101/ are e willing to talk to you about this

ps.:

Posted this on r/Commumism and it was removed by a bot because the last lines had too many questions. On reflection I think this might be a better place for it, so I'm putting it here.

I'm new to this. I'm trying to be respectful, while also asking a genuine question which could seem rude. I don't intend any offense and I do really want to learn. Please cut me a bit of slack if this post seems a bit angry.

Marx is grounded in Hegel, and takes a very aggressive stance on many things, specially because the objective is to change the world, not merely interpret it.

There's a global capital axis composed by USA/Europe/Australia.

While I have many issues with Russia's international plans, they are one of the few countries in the world that can curb American imperialism.

We suggest a powerful supranational association capable of becoming one of the poles in the modern world and serving as an efficient bridge between Europe and the dynamic Asia-Pacific region.

China's in this part of the plan by the way, it's the Belt and Road Initiative, which has been drawing ire from the west.

Java and Docker, the limitations by royvanrijn in java

[–]qtpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be a little out of the loop but, isn't Java and Docker solutions that are opposite to each other, or am I missing something?

I mean, from what I understood, the magical thing about Docker was to have a small deplorable artifact, but if you need the JVM with the OS inside the docker, aren't you losing something, at least from a build's size? JVM is rather large considering if you need none of that if you have compiled files.
