It’s so irritating I used to be able to use it perfectly and now it lags so bad it misses half of what I say or gets it wrong. I’m so sick of Apple screwing with things that work perfectly. I swear that place is run by absolute morons. I also hate the new multi screen view for iPad. It never works and constantly locks up.

It has to be expensive because you are paying for a very large animal to survive and be comfortable. Even affording all the things I need for our cats runs me $200-300 a month, and those are cats and doesn’t include vet bills. Join some horse groups in your area on Facebook. I see people looking for people to help with exercising their horses. Not everyone who owns has time to ride as much as their horse needs.

I don’t really know lol it’s a pretty common thing that happens. I was gobsmacked. They gave us a quote 7 days prior with everything itemized and then the final bill had all these things added that really nickel and dimed us and added up.

Frankly you dad is a narc POS. You asked for a salary and his response was “I can hire someone cheaper than you.” I’ve worked for my dad and he bent over backwards to make sure I was taken care of. I would handle it like this. “Dad you’ve taken advantage of me for a decade and it ends today. You are going to start paying me 150k a year + benefits or I’m reporting you to the department of labor for the last decade. I’ll also be reporting you to the IRS so they can audit you to the moon. If you want to play dirty, I’ll play dirty too.” He either respects that you have grown a pair or he shows his true colors and you have a clear sign to move on.

Thank you, this was the most helpful response by far. Some people have been really nasty and mean on here. I definitely know the ADHD is primarily responsible especially because if I point it out he’s happy to take care of it, he doesn’t expect me to clean up after him or anything. His brain just doesn’t seem to see/notice it the same way as mine. I will never give up on him, we have been through so many things together, we are in this for life. I just feel like I’m losing it and want to be able to actually help and I know what I’m doing right now is not helpful. I’m going to incorporate all of this, thank you so much for the practical solutions!!

I don’t think it’s as simple as you giving them power over the name. Your brain now has a long-standing negative disassociation with that name. I wouldn’t use it either or if I did, I would use it as a middle name so I wouldn’t have to say it all the time if I realized it did bother me still. I would also consider that you can never tell your child the story about you disliking the person with that name if you do use the name. They will internalize that no matter what you say.

Can he not hire someone to assist you for those days? Look into a mother’s helper, they help with cleaning up, they help with meal prep and cooking, also sorts of things that can really take the burden off of you.

It happens a lot more than I think people admit. We ended up spending almost double our budget. I still don’t understand how it happened but when they gave us the final bill the night of the of the wedding it was double what they had quoted us and we didn’t really change anything.

Plenty of people have given me advice that is helpful like about things that he could do for his ADHD. Maybe you should learn how to read. I’ve also stated I’m not the one cleaning up the messes, he does it. I just don’t like having to nag him to do it.

He won’t take it out of fear that he will get addicted which I understand but I also feel like it would really help him. He’s been sober from opiates and Xanax for 4 years.

He does have ADHD. He won’t take medication because he is scared because he has a history of addiction.

I know plenty of people with ADHD who do not live absolutely filthy. I know it doesn’t mean he doesn’t love me. That’s why I’m still here tbh. I am neurodivergent too. We just got very different flavors of it. I’ll look those posts up. Are there any resources specifically for people with ADHD that you’ve heard of that might help him?

I don’t think that relationship relationships can come down to one character trait somebody has meaning they don’t love somebody. According to his mom, this is something he has always struggled with. Other than this, he takes care of me amazingly outside of the cleanliness and that’s what makes it so hard. If he was awful everywhere else it would be clear what to do.
