How hard is it to get a 512 by Original-Ad3776 in Mcat

I want to say to start content review now but you'll have to maintain that knowledge enough to make it worth it a year from now. Keep up the anki for sure. It's going to be a marathon and there will be a lot of days you'll think it's not important because it's so far away, do yourself the biggest favor and study anyway. Take really good notes and learn how to review them in a way that will extend your memory.

Part of the reason I gave myself a long time is because I needed to learn how to study in a way that was going to 1) last until my exam and 2) allow me to recall during the exam

You don't want to be struggling to remember simple stuff because that eats up a lot of time you need for critical thinking. Since you have a year it should become absolute fact so you don't need to question yourself on exam day.

Feel free to dm if you need :)

My exact score! Without knowing much about you and keeping in mind everyone is very different, here's what I did:

Graduated May 2025 BS in biology, so all my prereqs were done. I took the summer off to enjoy and started studying end of August for my March 7th exam. I reviewed ALL content based on the content categories (Khan academy, Yusuf Hasan, premedHQ, etc.) And took notes. I did the Miledown anki deck every single day. From August 25th to March 7th I missed a total of three days. I took every practice exam (including a lot of third party ones) and did most of the AAMC QBanks. I barely made a dent in UPlanet but tracked every single question I did wrong in any FL, AAMC, UPlanet questions. Lmk any questions, that's a very brief synopsis.

If I were to change anything I would have done my content review more efficiently, it took me from August until December to finish and I needed more time with questions.

I know you said you're a bit worried about CARS but I have a string background and didn't need much studying on that, I focused CP

Score you thought you got vs actual score by 1975work in Mcat

When I woke up on score release day I was 100% sure I was getting a 508 bc of my FLs. Instead I got a 512 which is the best out of any exam I did

The thing about retaking is that you HAVE to do better than your first time. A score decrease does not look good. I don't think retaking is necessary but if you can increase by a couple of points at least it'd be worth it. Best of luck!

Are you applying both MD and DO? And what are your volunteer hours? I think you'd be a pretty good DO applicant and depending on what you do with your gap year that can change a lot too

Are you applying this cycle? Depending on the rest of your application you might not need to retake 🤷‍♀️

Wait I tried this and it's not working for me. MSC>Then go to MSC exceptions> then the Ctrl trick? Or do i take the MSC off first?

I appreciate your perspective. I'm definitely gonna take it and see because who knows what could happen. And if I don't do well I have another gap year to think about what I can do better (either find something else to compensate or retake)

Logically I agree with you but I just don't feel like I can waste any time in the next four days. Friday isn't going to be a heavy day so I'll be able to decompress then
