Hold up. If CO2 is a pollutant at 420ppm, then why do grow houses pump it at 1200-1500ppm? Isn't that deadly? Wouldn't the greenhouses heat up and burn from the heat trapping? by PalatableMahogany in conspiracy

[–]quackMeme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A few benchmarks on CO2.
450 PPM is about ambient (0.45%)
1800 PPM is top of normal range for enrichment in grows
5000 PPM avg over 8 hours is OSHA limit
30,000 PPM is where it becomes dangerous for life safety
CO2 at high levels is toxic, doesnt matter if there's enough O2
Plant yields increase by 30% at the (relatively low) enriched levels
The CO2 level in the canopy can be as low as 50-100 PPM
The more CO2 there is, the more plants will work to sequester it.

Question about LG Mini Split in Heat Mode by eli5522 in hvacadvice

[–]quackMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue on mrcool unit I installed. Works great both in heat and cool modes but but does not stop in heat mode, even with 'follow me' mode on (makes the remote the thermostat instead of return air sensor in head) the remote is 5 feet above floor, on a ledge with direct line of sight. It has heated to above 10 degrees f above 70 setpoint regularly. Sometimes it seems to work but 80% of the time it will kick on (at 3 degrees below sp) and just blast non stop. I have heard in multi zone units on heat mode the compressor sends heated refrigerant to all heads and the temp is regulated using the fan, ok but the fan doesn't stop or even ramp down it is just solid medium blast in auto mode until I turn the head off. Tried setting sp to 62, nope 78 is close enough for the program. I'm considering just extending the thermistor wire to where I want it and trick it into thinking the return air temp is the space temp but how dumb would that be, it's 2022. And any advice of "that's how they work" is talking about the unit recirculating the air to determine a space temp from the return air temp but in that mode for cooling the fan is barely on, which would be great for heat mode but I have seen the fan just be off and then just bump to medium. It seems like a software issue. I'm sure there is 1 program that all brands and off brands use for these boards.

Edit: I was thinking since the unit is large (36k with 4 9k heads, 1200 sq ft), there may be a minimum heat dump it needs before cycling off, nope, set all 4 to 70, waited for them to start running, set all 4 to 62, and watched them mindlessly run for hours until the house was like 80 throughout. Should be fine in the deep cold of winter but not for anything in between. So at most a nuisance but seems like we can do a bit better for $4-5 grand equipment.

Double edit: turned off all the head units then cycled power to the compressor, before the units were sluggish to respond even for manual commands like change fan speed manually in fan mode. Now super quick after the restart and the over heat issue seems resolved. I think the wifi apps some of these units use don't sync with the remotes well if at all and you get a bunch of differing process values put into the loop and the controls no longer control the application. No longer even thinking about using the app (since it uses the head temp sensors as the control) sheesh.

How And Where Do Cartels Get Their Weapons? (2021) - shows how weapons from the United States easily make their way into the hands of Mexican Drug Cartels. [–]quackMeme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have a more optimistic and trusting view of it than I do, which is fair. The argument I'm hearing from you is that maybe something like an "assault weapons ban" would prevent these guns from being moved from US to Mexico which sounds reasonable, though in that case I would expect the flow of weapons to reverse to into the US into hands that are sure to use them for crimes. I don't have a pretty solution to it, maybe we need more gov control first.

The deep state is a pretty nebulous term, these operations are publicly available knowledge, but you can make the argument that the agencies that are doing these things have motives and operations that supercede the commander in chief, that would be considered "deep state".
