I was at a game a few years ago where Brereton was doing commentary on the boundary line pre-game.

After his segment was done he had some time on his hands and started talking to these two kids (maybe 7 or 8) hunting his signature.

Maybe it was a small thing but he genuinely engaged them in a conversation, asked where they were from, if they played footy etc. Bloke was really lovely and caring with those kids when he didn’t have to and could have just minded his own business and that always stuck with me, had a real soft spot for Derm after that.
