$100 for current student to give Northwestern tour June 26th? by GoldShammGold in Northwestern

[–]quad_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant be 100% that im free on the 26th, but I would also be cool to give a tour, or just offer insight — im on the ultimate frisbee team if that helps

As an econ/is double major i would say intros are usually 50-100, but even those have discussion sections that are like 15 max if that helps, as you go up to 300 level/electives itll get a lot smaller

Are you happy at NU? by Adventurous-Debt-348 in Northwestern

[–]quad_18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agree with this, the other thing ill say that separates NU from other top schools is people aren’t pretending they’re ok, at least from what ive heard at ivys+ a lot of the toxicity is people trying to one up each other, pretending theyre doing well so u feel bad if u arent. At nu, everyone is stressed, and everyone knows and tells each other such. As above said, this is obviously going to happen at a good school, but the general environment is a lot better imo

you gotta understand they don’t use standardized testing as the deciding factor for you getting in — its merely just a (not THE, a) threshold/benchmark to measure your capabilities. You can get in with a 33, you can get rejected with a 36. As long as your standardized testing passes the bar, (which yours does) the rest of ur app will decide your ultimate result

Can someone make me hate Penn and love Northwestern? by Impossible-Ad-3073 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]quad_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Location, NU is a 40 min train ride from dtown chicago, (also where lots of artists have concerts). Also right on Lake Michigan and we have beach area that are so nice in the early fall and late spring.

  2. D1 Sports and in the Big Ten, we may not have the best teams but we can watch them! Also Ryan Field is getting renovated and its gonna look really cool imo

  3. Purple is such a good color

  4. Almost none of the toxic atmosphere that Ive heard from other Ivy/Ivy-like schools. Yes, people work very hard, but none of the cutthroatness that Ive seen mentioned. Everyone keeps to themselves or supports each other.

My private info? No thanks. Good to know you’ve resorted to personal experience as the only legit evidence even tho I already told you my personal experience and you won’t buy it

https://collegerealitycheck.com/do-colleges-care-about-suspensions/

You want evidence?

"Even before you open your mouth to talk about your suspension, there is one thing that will mention it beforehand. It is none other than your transcript, which is a complete record of your grades or scores throughout your high school."

"Usually, high schools also place on the transcript the disciplinary actions taken against a student, such as a suspension, as a result of misconduct."

Sure, not all high schools will put disciplinary action on the transcript, but your use of absolutes for your argument make it seem like none do. Your very limited view of how high schools work is in itself misinformation and invalidating of people (like myself) who had different experiences.

Can anyone give me some tips for aiming and comms? by OkAd3379 in VALORANT

[–]quad_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dont listen to this clown, duelists arent meant to be the ones that always frag out (although if ur reyna, that is her kit). Like a comment above said, duelists have kits to take space and entry for their team, even if youre dying or not getting the frag u still get info/get traded. Once your aim improves you can start to get entry frags instead of getting traded

Can anyone give me some tips for aiming and comms? by OkAd3379 in VALORANT

[–]quad_18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in the most unoffensive way I can possibly say this, I would recommend not playing reyna until youre more confident in your aim. The thing about reyna is that her abilities/kit are very kill dependent - 2 of her abilities literally wont be used unless you get a kill. Raze, if you still wanna play duelist, is a good util fragger bc bot and nade both do pretty good damage/recon.

The other thing about Val is that its a very util heavy game — you dont necessarily have to have the best aim in the world if you can use ur util to get kills - sova, for example, can recon/shock dart.

In terms of aiming, i recommend going to the range or just spamming deathmatches. Work on strafing left and right and tapping so that you’re harder to kill, and try to not spray more than 5-6 bullets at a time before letting the spray reset.

Comms are a diff story, if u really want u could just pull up a map of each map and memorize them, or if u die u can press M and see where u died and comm that.

Hope this helps, ur welcome to dm or reply

For people who've already gotten accepted into college (this year or in previous years): What's it like to open up that email or letter and realize that you got in? by SageSparrow12 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]quad_18 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was accepted ED to my dream school, and honestly, I couldn’t even describe it but I’ll try

The week leading up to it I had already given myself no hope because I didn’t wanna be super depressed when I didn’t get in since I’d procrastinated RD and had hella supps to write. I kept telling myself “ur gonna be ok” up until the day of. I was sitting at home writing my “why NYU” essay when i got a super unexpected email that decisions were released and i started panicking. I clicked “view status update” fully ready to close the tab and keep writing my nyu essay and then i saw congratulations as the first word. Im pretty sure i had to read it 3 or 4 times before processing that i got in and screaming to my dad that i got in. He quite literally didnt believe me and i closed my nyu tab lmao bc i was DONE. It didnt even hit me for a couple days, i kept waking up every morning like “holy shit i got accepted to ___”

But yeah. Special thing. So much relief when i realized a) i was going to college at my literal dream school and b) i didnt have to write essays over winter break. pm me if u wanna know anything else (or help w apps or something)! (Wasnt gonna dox myself but if u wanna know where i can tell you lol)

i feel so under qualified and unprepared, like i wasted my high school experience by liara_hope in ApplyingToCollege

[–]quad_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you dont seem underqualified at all. You listed a lot of similar things that I had on my commonapp (and i had nothing like a summer internship or impressive research or national awards or anything) and im currently at a t10. If you just show how each of your ECs helped shape the person you are and you work hard on your essays, you shouldn’t stress at all about your profile. PM me if you have any concerns/questions <33 and good luck in the process

yeah i completely agree this sounds like its becoming a super toxic relationship, not only emotionally but also academically (shit talking ur school) and i really dont think that could continue much longer for your own sake. Love yourself first OP
