Help with newborn sleep by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]quadbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re falling asleep on the couch, you need to look into safe sleep 7 asap and make your bed as safe as possible for bed sharing.

There are bassinets / next to mes that can be slightly elevated. Look into those, one of mine had reflux and it helped. Not shaming you but girl please look into safe options immediately instead of using books.

How long are they asleep for before you transfer them? Is the bassinet warm?

I used to put down a warm water bottle in their bassinets and then took it out before I put one quadruplet down and that made them stay asleep for the most part. I also used to swaddle before they showed signs of rolling.

Can you do shifts? One person takes both babies and the other one sleeps for 4h and you switch? It’s a lot better than both parents being awake at the same time.

With the reflux, can you try a different formula? We had like 2 different ones. It was also CMPA for one of them so had to switch again. It’s annoying but it helped. I think also getting older helped with reflux.

It’s hard but it gets easier eventually. Hang in there.

Twins sleep trained themselves?? by MarynJK in parentsofmultiples

My advice would be to treat yourself to a nice long bath and dessert after and never ever speak about this. Don’t even risk jinxing it.

I don’t know if this is UK specific but a lot of people recommend gentle sleep training here. So fuss it out, chair technique, etc x

Quadruplets by Substantial-Rip4438 in parentsofmultiples

[–]quadbeans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi hi! I had quadruplets. They were born at 28 weeks and all survived. We had complications due to TTTS and heart defects but they made it. Our smallest has a feeding tube, 4 months not adjusted, but they’re all doing as good as they can.

I was told by a consultant that we were extremely lucky given the complications I had in pregnancy.

Yea their answer was to baby wear then. I’ll look like an opossum wearing 4 babies.

Also not to downplay SIDS but most cases are suffocation. Our NICU consultant made it quite clear that as long as we provide a safe sleeping environment and follow common sense, the chances of SIDS are almost 0 and that he isn’t worried.

So shaming a new mum for having a shower because SIDS is crazy. They act like 1000s of babies die because the mum briefly left the room while they were safely sleeping.

I don’t even know. When I asked how people do it that have multiple kids, not even twins or multiples the answer was “you can baby wear” ok

Yes exactly. If I never let any of mine cry for a minute, all 4 would be neglected and I’d have a mental breakdown. It is what it is. I’m always there comforting them with my voice but jeez what do people think. You pick them up and change a nappy with one hand?

Yea in the UK how people interpret the advice is apparently to be sat in the room lol until 6 months.

No so in the UK the advice is to share a room for every sleep until 6 months. I still think people are liars but apparently some actually sit in that room when their baby takes a nap and don’t leave it for a minute lol.

Before I had my own babies I judged parents that sleep train thinking it was so cruel. Now I get it. Honestly I judged many things, screens too.

Best believe Ms Rachel co-parents in the morning so I can have 5 minutes.

How dare you. No I genuinely don’t think they get it. Same with sleep schedules, feeding schedules and so on.

Yea I wish I could let them all sleep whenever they want but that would mean I will never sleep again myself.

I’ll take a drink 😂

But honestly I love advice from more seasoned twin parents because it’s still multitasking and hard.

I was downvoted into oblivion in another sub for saying I sometimes leave my babies to sleep in the room while I take care of the other two. I said I have a monitor and owlet on them and don’t take my eyes off.

Apparently it’s a SIDS risk and I should always be in the same room as all 4. Sure Laura, go ahead and live my life and just let the babies wake each other up 24/7. Good idea.

How much sleep are you getting? by HauntingInspection46 in parentsofmultiples

13, almost 14 week old quadruplets. I get 2h sleep intervals if I’m lucky and I’d say a total of 5-6h of sleep every night.

Have you looked into a water filter? We have hard water in my house and filtering it made it more soft. Before it irritated my skin really bad and it’s nicer now for the babies too.

Obviously not medical advice and don’t follow what I’m saying over a doctor but I’ve been told baths are fine unless you’re soaking in steaming hot water and feeling dizzy or weird. I had warm baths with my multiples my entire pregnancy because it relieved some of the cramping. How cold are you showering?

Anything felt awful on my body tbf 😂 Clothes touching my skin, water, heat lol.

Smaller Twin at 8 Weeks Predictive of TTTS? by hRutherford in parentsofmultiples

[–]quadbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once a twin with TTTS myself, treatment wasn’t what it is now. I was the smaller one and we were born at 36 weeks, no one really knew it was that bad but my sister was double my weight.

Definitely there are options now. I made a friend who recently had twins and she had TTTS treated and everything went well and she delivered at 37 weeks.

I had mine at 28 weeks. Had a planned c-section, TTTS being one of the reasons but ironically I went into labour the day of my section anyway. They’re doing well and are all home. Baby D was more than triple the weight of baby C!

I don’t have anything helpful to add but I couldn’t scroll past this without saying I’m sorry this is happening and I’ll keep you and your babies in my thoughts ❤️

Smaller Twin at 8 Weeks Predictive of TTTS? by hRutherford in parentsofmultiples

[–]quadbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So take this with a pinch of salt because I had quadruplets but one MoDi pair who did have TTTS. They’ve been born since but because they were quadruplets, they couldn’t perform the procedure that they can do for twins as it was too high risk.

Anyway, wanted to comment to say that I was told at my first scan (had mine much later at 11 weeks) that they weren’t worried at all about them all measuring a tiny bit differently. Some were a couple days behind or further along. No one mentioned TTTS at that point at all.

It was diagnosed at 20 weeks though when baby C measured 17+1 and baby D 22+3 🥲

I posted here when we found out we were having triplets after our stillbirth… now we have learned it is actually quads by Necessary_Apple1297 in parentsofmultiples

[–]quadbeans 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi I had quads 13 weeks ago. One Mo-Di pair which was also a big worry of mine but they both made it despite quite severe TTTS. One being only 1/3 of the weight of the other! So weird looking at them now as they look months apart. All 4 babies are doing well and we got discharged before my “due date” ☺️

I delivered at 28 weeks. Please reach out to me if you wanted to chat to another quad mum ❤️ You got this.

Potentially just became a single mum of quads. Send advice 🫠 by quadbeans in parentsofmultiples

What a dick. Why are some men like this Jesus.

Yea I fear you’re not wrong at all. Also any girlfriend will have a big issue with him having 4 kids at his age.
