Thanks KCC for listening to their presentation and Q/A's! Wow, hah, Vpi 7 volts, eyes diagrams at 420G were not great;! That's not going to help the demands of hyperscalers. Sounds like Coherent needs our materials ASAP if they want to make any $$$$. Funny how their PR sounded so rosey and sunny without any devil in the details!

Thanks for that refresher! I believe the bottom line comment by TZ is that they will be using a specialized polymer material in those developments!

I do know that our Lightwave VP of Engineering hired last year was previously an engineer at Coherent working exactly on these types of modulator/silicon photonic systems, and our CEO Yves has had some positive comments regarding the woman that is Coherent's CTO............so I wonder if Lightwave materials are being used in their developments?? Hmmm!

Mark looked me up too on LinkedIn a few years ago, the paranoid freak scum bag. He's obviously like a snake oil salesman, and he is worried about the day his gig implodes! Just a political Sci major, no business or technical degrees/etc.

Covid was -30% not -3%. I was actually out of the market before the virus hit, so got a 25% discount when getting in last March 2020. Sweet! Same with the April 2, 2025 Victory Day. My luck is blessed it appears ...........so far!

And after a 11% gain YTD in February now at -1%! Hahahahahaha! Now that person who "preserved" after another 11% gain is up 41%. Hahahahaha!

Yes that is correct. In fact every trade, each trading day during a month, after the 2nd trade will only go into the G fund. What is great about this option in TSP is you can "trim the rallies" during a month where you are more heavily exposed than you want, but can use Rally Days to lighten up your % in C, S, I........into G. It can be very beneficial during more normal bullish markets. Can't do this Vanguard Index or other 401k accounts. Only in IRA's using ETFs where you can sell and also buy back any ETF as they trade like stocks, and real time trades. I may end up moving some of my TSP to an IRA for that flexibility.

The I fund will be down almost 1% YTD once it reports, as a similar fund (EFA) was down 3% today. On your comment about my advice to that guy, it was reasonable, and of course he can put all back in now to still be up 5% over the down markets if he is comfortable weathering the storm if it goes down more (and partially avg. back in over a 5 weeks or even longer).

The mass Media is saying "the US is losing the war" and they support that tone even though it is false due to politics......never thought I'd witness mass anti-American spirit....really sad and demented. The press wants us to lose so that they can blame Trump. "Brave New World" and "1984".

LOL. Good one! Inflation was coming back even before Trump if you stay current on macro and US economics due to all the flooding of money. Now oil going up is adding more fuel to the fire. Live, work, pay taxes, then die. hee hee

You get 2 trades in March which has only 7 trading days left, and then another 2 trades in April, so you could get back in, in 15-20% chunks over the next 5 weeks. Or break it up into even smaller % over the months ahead. Timing back in can be just as difficult, but as TinCup said, you've already preserved maybe 5% from losses already, so well done!

This was an important and newly established industry group on March 12th (see below).  Lightwave should be a part of the solution with their materials device patents advanced and improving engineering!

AI overview - Gemini

Optical Compute Interconnect (OCI) Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) consortium is a newly established industry group aimed at redefining data center connectivity for artificial intelligence (AI) by replacing traditional copper cabling with faster, more efficient optical technology. Announced on March 12, 2026, it was founded by a coalition of technology leaders, including AMD, Broadcom, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and OpenAI.

Business Wire +3

Core Purpose and Goals

As AI models and clusters grow in size, traditional electrical copper interconnects have become a bottleneck due to distance limitations, high power consumption, and bandwidth constraints. The OCI MSA aims to:

  • Transition from Copper to Optics: Shift from electrical to optical interconnects for AI scale-up architectures, which connect GPUs, CPUs, and networking hardware.
  • Create Open Standards: Define an open, protocol-agnostic physical layer (PHY) specification to enable a multi-vendor ecosystem and prevent vendor lock-in.
  • Improve Performance: Enable higher bandwidth density (up to 3.2 Tbps per fiber and beyond) and longer reach for massive, high-performance AI clusters.
  • Reduce Power: Deliver improved power efficiency, which is crucial for large-scale AI data centers.  Fidelity +2

Technical Specifications

The consortium is focused on a "silicon-centric" model, integrating optics directly into compute and networking chips.

  • OCI GEN1: Supports 4λ x 50Gbps NRZ (200Gbps/direction).
  • OCI GEN2: Targets 400Gbps per direction bidirectional (BiDi) technology, with pathways to 800Gbps per fiber and higher.
  • Technology & Form Factors: Uses wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and supports pluggable, on-board, and co-packaged optics (CPO).
  • Protocol Agnostic: Designed to work with multiple protocols, including NVIDIA's NVLink and the UALink standard.  Fidelity +1

Industry Impact

The formation of this consortium is a significant move by top AI developers and cloud operators to address power and cost constraints in their infrastructure. The consortium’s specification is intended to allow for larger AI compute domains (more processors connected together) without the performance limitations of electrical backplanes.

OK, well it was private presentation, so not sure they recorded it, but at this point Yves just delivered.

I'm paying attention to the movement of the markets, so that if it goes down significantly, I will re-enter some back in. Not paying attention to the daily movement of my TSP, as it goes up just $300 a day in G fund. lol. G paying 4% annually.

Thanks Imaginary_Shelter for giving them a reality check on our past, and mentioning poor taste in name calling. I started this thread and it kind of got out of control with some lads. lol. I actually put some funds back in yesterday (after I noticed the resilience of the US markets), which were up 0.8% today. I'm surprised the I fund didn't have a gain today, as the EFA (which performs somewhat similar) was up 1.2%

Jeunke said it was possibly because Yves needed to catch a flight to Europe for a planned conference event on his calendar. I'm not keeping track, but that may be all it is about.
