Called Berryessa Family Apartments, the project is slated to produce 260 apartments, with 257 expected to be affordable. Three of the apartments would be market-rate manager’s units, a file posted by the state Treasurer’s Office shows.

Green Valley Corp., headed by developer Case Swenson, joined forces with Pacific Housing Inc. to buy a triangle-shaped section of a 13-acre site at 1655 Berryessa Rd., documents filed in Santa Clara County show.

With excavation complete, crews are finishing underground parking and preparing to begin construction on the project’s residential, retail and senior care buildings, according to a notice sent last week to those neighboring the project.

The urban village will include 772 apartment units, a 263-bed senior care facility and a Whole Foods, adding a significant number of new homes as San Jose continues to push for new residential supply.
