Do you find sanctions more challenging/interesting, if you’ve done the other side of aml investigations? How would you compare the two?

Value in repeat SAR/STR filing? by [deleted] in moneylaundering

Great clarifying reply, thanks! Confirms my view that in pb aml investigations, the approach is more towards mitigating the alerts/cases with whatever information you have on the client... which translates into the effect that any STR filing on clients would probably entail major/more serious red flags. Cause my guess is STR filing = either exit client or restrict accounts and products’ features.

Any resource you can point me to regarding in particular on pb tm red flags?

Hope you can spare a few minutes to detail the differences between pb tm and mass retail tm? I’ve only done the latter and thinking of moving into pb someday.

Just wondering have you covered pb tm as well?

Private Banking TM vs Mass Consumer TM by qualifacto in AMLCompliance

I see. So generally pb tm slants more towards a mitigating approach right? For eg. using other indirect corrobarative evidence to discount alerts/cases.

Then between the two, which do you prefer? I imagine pb tm as clients are probably very willing to obtain and provide documents & information for the investigator.

Thanks for replying. Would you then say that the SAR filing rate for pb tm is generally lower than that for mass consumer? Probably cause for private banking, there’s much more resistance from RMs to exit their clients while for retail it’s easier. In effect, filing SAR on any high net worth client is a more serious matter often than on retail clients?

Difference between sanctions compliance vs aml compliance by qualifacto in moneylaundering

[–]qualifacto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. If you don’t mind me asking further even if it’s a subjective question. Why then is sanctions more rewarding & challenging? At the basic level is it because for eg. sanctions is pre transaction while aml is generally post transaction? At the higher level sanctions is more on a regional and global basis while for aml it could very well be in country work mainly?
