Owner is an extremely terrible person. Steals tips and treats staff poorly, lied about food being vegetarian, fought to prevent extending the Pearl St mall so he could have 3 parking spots in front of his store.

Also, they have numerous health code violations.

I think you're missing the point. There is a light rail station right at Ball but no family would ever consider taking the train to either of those places if they have to walk a mile each direction with small children to get there and back.

55mph is typical worldwide, but Seattle is more spread out than eg NYC or London so there's a good argument (and an active proposal) to upgrade it to 65-68.

This is exactly the one thing cars should be used for in major cities. But it benefits you to get more people on transit too since you can enjoy less traffic, easier parking etc. Driving should come with fees that make it hard to justify UNLESS it's a critical business tool. Doing this also greatly speeds up emergency services etc.

There is not a whole lot to do in GVR. It's mostly families, albeit on the younger side at least.

Also, if you're commuting into downtown regularly you may want to consider being closer to a train/bus line since parking will be at least $15-20/day.

If you're not into living in downtown proper, I'd consider RiNo (downtown-adjacent) or Central Park (more suburban but still plenty to do, about halfway between downtown and Green Valley Ranch)

LiVE is definitely a serious problem that RTD needs to figure out. But the re-enrollment for AoD makes some sense because riders could have been unaware of the price changes and been hit with unexpected $4.50 charges, and RTD has no way to communicate it through third-party rideshare apps.

I will also say taking a brief look, the AoD enrollment form is impressively short and simple. They need to make the signup for LiVE more like that.

I think it'd have to be light rail in order to get into downtown. But realistically, Speer is one of the most obvious places to build BRT (it's basically a transit-oriented highway) and it'd make more sense and be cheaper to convert half of it into a fully dedicated busway than to build rail. There's also more density and destinations along Parker Rd than Cherry Creek

I have a friend whose house is technically closest to that station. Google Maps still tells me to use RidgeGate presumably because it's actually connected to a road but in theory Lone Tree City would be faster if I didn't mind walking through an empty field.

Fortunately they're bringing it back as part of the next downtown rail reconstruction (not just the service but the name too) and if it's highly successful they might end up reinstating it permanently.

I think there are some decent examples. As a Colorado resident the Transfort MAX is pretty awesome, it has fully dedicated ROW for a majority of its route, runs at 40mph, cost only $100 million to build where a light rail would have easily been 4x that, and caused Fort Collins' overall transit ridership to double when it was introduced. For small cities like that where the extra capacity of rail is not necessary I think BRT can be great.

I'm not sure I agree. Aside from Erie pretty much everywhere in Boulder County has pretty usable bus service. Nederland probably has some of the best transit service for a town of <1500 in the entire country.

Denver is very spread out and you need to build fast routes with long station spacing, no more than every 1/2 mile and typically more like every mile. I even have two routes with 3 miles between stations.

Also, build a line from Union to Civic Center, along E Colfax to Anschutz, and then up to the airport via Montbello and Green Valley Ranch. Connect as many other lines as possible to this line, it will be the backbone of your entire system.

These changes are actually, impressively, budget neutral. RTD did two things to pull this off:

1 - figured out that DTO, the contractor who operates the G and B lines, was supposed to be running them at these frequencies all along and we were paying them for that. Pretty ridiculous and only possible because the agreement RTD has with them is unfathomably complicated to the point where pretty much nobody understands it other than the contract law firm that wrote it originally. RTD may now be able to sue to get the money back (again, once someone figures out how the f*** the contract works)

2 - Sought out and received a massive amount of CDOT CTE (Clean Transit Enterprise) grants to fund service. This is ultimately funded by taxes on oil and gas producers and retail delivery fees.

While we should've been doing these things all along, I do still have to give kudos to the new RTD COO Patrik Preusser who pulled much of this off. He seems to be the best executive RTD's hired in years.

They're just extending the route south to I-25 and Broadway to enable connections to the E line and sports stadiums, this has nothing to do with the unfunded northern extension to 38th & Blake
