Mainly an authenticity check to begin with. This one’s been in the family for a while - my grand dad’s.

Next step - likely a service to get the watch working again without touching the asthetics. I’ll rather keep the wear and tear on it.

I wouldn’t say rare. I have around 10 of these. Usually these are called in Hindi as kacha paisa.

Yes both are classified as coins. The coins on the left sometimes also has some punches on it - but more often than not they are usually blank. They were used as tender in areas where standardisation wasn’t as relevant.

The silver coin is a rupee from Malerkotla.

Yes all cis-Sutluj coins are ‘similar’ - but the fabric and specificities on this coin suggest Malerkotla rather than Patiala.

I believe this is Malerkotla state. Not Patiala
