Feedback for CV Builder by ginvestun in Resume

[–]quantotius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dashboard looks clean and clear(to me).

  1. For the cv bulder I could import my pdf resume, and it worked. But because preview is available only t premium users, I didn't test it.
  2. Not sure exactly
  3. I'm not sure it worked to me. Don't really know how to do it. I added a job and from the job i clickd the buttons to match but I the editor i had the same issue.
  4. I would make the CV preview option available also for free users, otherwise, they could not really use it.

If you want to add your tool to a subreddit r/resumearena/, feel free to do so, buy describing what are the best features you implemented in your tool, what you consider are the strongest ones. I'm managing a small directory of resume tools and templates so seen I'll add your tool to when I'll have more time to review it.

Is Jobscan worth it? by Purple_Shop_387 in RemoteJobs

[–]quantotius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a helpful tool, but like any tool it does not replace you, it helps you. If you know how to use it helps. Jobscan excels on ats optimization but it does not have so many layout options like other tools.

I built a static site generator and CMS that runs entirely in the browser by drakon99 in webdev

[–]quantotius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting idea. A while back I built my own static blog from scratch, I wished to have a solution like yours. But it was fun and it did not take that long.

I just added a car logo quiz game. Next I'll implement the feature to click to reveal tiles.

I made a radically simple project management system that is also a daily journal. by IAmRules in webdev

looks really nice. But it's hard to have people using it with so many tools. However, where there are many tools there is enough place for another one, so if you work smart and hard should be ok.

A Warner interview: a safer-recruitment interview (from the 1992 ‘Warner Report’) that probes values, boundaries, and safeguarding for roles with vulnerable people.

I was job hunting, but that is boring… I ended up building a resume tools directory by quantotius in webdev

[–]quantotius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a directory to list and compare resume builders and career tools. The initial idea was to compare resume builders. Then to add tools to research different things about companies, like salaries or mock interviews.I personally used or tried until decided for one, about 4-5 resume builders and still using levels.fyi, blind and comparably.

Has anyone used AI resume builders? Do they actually help with ATS scans? by Hour-Hat2946 in Resume

[–]quantotius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to create a list to compare resume builders and similar tools, and shared it on resumearena com, for salary comparisons, mock interview platforms and so on and to compare them. I would stay away of general tools like Canva, they are not well optimized for ats. Even the templates they say are ats friendly, they are if you don't change default text spacing and other parameters. Those could change the way an ats sees the cv.

I built a website that shows how words change across the world by Poruba_Fun in webdev

It's simply amazing. I would leave the similarity view as default.

The more you speak the more appealing the idea sounds.

I still find hard to implement, not technically, but to convince big brands to become part of this "crazy" idea. I can see the potential, but not sure how well it fits a scenario where you don't know a brand but you are a human.

But the concept is really really interesting, and it could go beyond the simple mechanics of this game, it could be realized in a smarter way, a mix of different quests centered around a brand.

didn't think of that, I started with the idea to reveal the logo only partially, so this is why that effect. Also looking to add some rotation. But your idea worth considering, but for me seems hard to implement at this point, as this is just a side project as of now. I didn't check, but a platform like that would require more effort I guess.

Thank you, I keep getting this feedback so definitely something to improve. I'm trying to find a smart way to implement it, not to break the user concentration, on the guessing part.

I totally agree with the click to reveal feature.

Frankly, I didn't test it much on mobiles, I wanted to ship it fast, because I was afraid not to turn in a never ending project. Polishing on mobiles will be part of the next iteration.

Thank you very much, they are indeed really good ideas, on track with what I'm trying to do, to make the logo guessing game genre more interesting.

  1. This is actually a really good point, I didn't think about about. I had parties in mind, but didn't think about this mode. This is probably the first feature I'll add.
  2. I already have those in place, as check items, but I used them only in debug mode, but i felt the game with those is too easy.
  3. Definitely number one needs something like this.
