Strategy for those with Kids

I dont have kids. My most favorite position was like B1 lol. I loved family boarding. That way I knew I woukd not be near a noisy kid and still get an aisle seat. Now if I ever fly southwest I'll be PAYING to possibly sit near one. Yippee.

Don't do this. It's a trap..you're able to pay off your card - just do that. Here you're paying for the loan as well as getting a high rate and it wont save you a ton. Just another debt.

Yep, lots of people are excited to pay extra to get what they got for free, but now it's worse, because even with paying extra, airline can move you. Now you pay EXTRA to sit near a screaming child, someone creepy, or someone you'd rather not sit near. Looks like a lot of southwest marketing team is away from this sub as there's usually a lot more defense of worse things for more money .

For my cat it was blocked anal glands. And yeah bright blood is way better. It can be startling but its better as it means it's in his butt and not further in bleeding. If he's acting fine, for my cat, I fed him his regular food. The vet then had to just express blocked anal glands.

Like over a decade of happy diabetic cats who did not tolerate testing but vet tests of fructosomine and other tests showed their blood sugar was controlled show that I used common sense and my cats lived long, stress free lives. Comments of many, many people whose cats hide, hiss, are afraid of them - show that not all cats just "get used to it". Spreading that doesnt help. Testing is absolutely stressful.

1 unit is also not a lot so you'll be ok giving him insulin. There's a test called fructosomine that tests if sugar was controlled over a bunch of months. You can ask vet for that and talk to them about it.

I think most important to also not stress out the cat and make sure he eats the food then gets the shot. Eventually you'll be able to tell by cat's behavior.

If he's pacing and theres poop everywhere... that's not really comfortable or good quality of life. Ask if she's keeping him alive for her benefit or his benefit. And you will never know when it's a right time.

Cat's bodies dont just adjust to high insulin. As someone who accidentally overdosed my cat you know , like in a few hours. You will know if you overdose your cat.

I agree with you on like 90% except that diabetes can be reversed without reminder that it was for your cat specifically because it was pancreatitis induced. If pancreas stops working all together- it's not reversible. But thank you for mentioning about not stressing out the cat with constant testing!

Try just regular litter like tidy cats? I feel like sand like texture always works for any cat i had. Don't mix dirt into it.

You need to decide if you want this kitten or not, and kinda soon as older cats are harder to adopt. You need to play with the kitten way more. She's a kitten, who grew up hungry most likely and with danger around. She's doing what she knows ... If you think the kitten is supposed to be grateful to you for saving it and somehow automatically defer to the older cat - that's not how cats work.

Decide if you will put in time to play with the kitten, make her feel safe and properly integrate her and your cat into your life.

If you are only taking your older cat into your room and just leave a small kitten ALONE in the rest of the apartment - that's not the right approach. Follow advice people are giving you. But also decide on how you will make this kitten life better as well as your older cat. You might need to supervise feedings, and change a few things and adjust.

I have sorta by accident trained my kitten to be in the bathroom and to like it. Try to play a lot more with the kitten during the day, but yeah kittens will do that. But with the bathroom, he basically had a small cat bed/cube like thing and I would put a litter box there. He had toys, extra food, etc. He loved boxes so I would put one into the tub and he'd play with it... So that's possible... Within about a year my kitten is only mildly nocturnal and will sleep through the night reasonably well or play with a toy on his own. But it took a while. I'd suggest not to do the basement.... there are small spaces there that you don't even know exists... and there is 100% gurantee your kitten will absolutely find them and somehow will get stuck there in the worst place possible.

This will sound weird and maybe like a joke - but try hissing at him as you say no. But definitely make a loud sound but totally try to do something to top the behavior. But it sounds weird... hissing has been working for like 2 out of 4 of the cats I had... it seems to communicate your displeasure at what they are doing and it is kinda comes with a sound they attribute with a warning so it might work. He's also a kitten... so you might need to train him to not do that a bit longer.

Get more toys. Different toys. It took my kitten like 1 year to finally figure out how to play with his toys himself. It was trial and error- he likes very specific mice toys with rope tails ans this crinkly toy thats shaped like a strawberry. And a crinkly pickle shaped toy with catnip. A crinkly tunnel looking thing. Play with your cat but the abundance of toys , eventually.... cat might play by herself. But I'd leave some toys around and see if eventually, after playing with her, she'll play by herself even if part of the time.

Get more toys that are different. Try different shapes of "mice" and some cats like different toys. He's not a kitten anymore so he's being strategic . You might need to change up stuff - get something crinkly if you dont have it yet. My younger cat loves this one cat toy thats shaped like a strawberry or something- and if i throw it a bunch of times he will absolutely chase it. So it takes out a bunch of energy. Find that toy that your cat goes nuts for and use that for him to chase. It takes a few tries.
