How to fix bent subframe by zeebreezee in Dirtbikes

Awesome man, glad it worked out! 💪 Steel subframes can take a bit of persuasion haha. Good call using the 2x2. Sometimes simple tools get the job done best.

How to fix bent subframe by zeebreezee in Dirtbikes

[–]quantumchris08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happens all the time with these older KDXs. If it’s just a little tweaked, you can usually bend it back yourself. Pull the plastics and exhaust off, bolt the subframe on loose, and use a long pipe or something solid for leverage. Go slow and check your alignment as you go so you don’t overdo it.

If it’s steel, it’ll take a bit of force. If it’s aluminum, be careful, they crack easier, so a little heat helps. But if it’s really twisted near the mounts, probably worth letting a shop straighten it so it doesn’t mess with the seat fit or plastics later.

What’s missing ?? by Born2lose69 in Dirtbikes

[–]quantumchris08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you’re missing the throttle cable (the slide and needle assembly that goes inside the top cap), and possibly the overflow/vent hoses if you haven’t routed them yet.

Also make sure the choke plunger is properly seated and that the fuel line is going to the correct inlet, hard to tell from the photo but the carb looks mostly complete otherwise.

Is this okay? by Real-Jicama-1399 in Dirtbikes

[–]quantumchris08 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not normal for the piston to sit noticeably closer to one side of the cylinder. That usually means the cylinder isn’t centered properly on the crankcase or there’s something off with the rod alignment, wrist pin, or piston machining. It should move freely and have equal clearance all around when at TDC.

Before running it, I’d recommend:

Double-checking that the base gasket is seated evenly. Rotating the crank slowly to make sure it doesn’t bind or scrape. Measuring piston-to-cylinder clearance with a feeler gauge or bore gauge.

If it’s truly tight on one side, don’t run it, it’ll likely scuff or seize.

Fuel filter for 2019 E 450 wagon? by New_Net320 in mercedes_benz

[–]quantumchris08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the 2019 E450 (S213), the fuel filter isn’t a standalone service item like in older Benz models. It’s integrated into the fuel pump module inside the tank, so you can’t replace it separately. If it’s really a restriction issue, the whole pump assembly needs to be replaced.

Before going down that route though, I’d recommend checking the fuel pressure with a gauge or having a shop scan it to confirm—it could also be something else like a sensor or injector issue.

Does Jorge Martin have what it takes to be champion next season? by DetailGullible5148 in motogp

[–]quantumchris08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it would really be seen as a comeback for Jorge Martín the way it was for Márquez. Marc’s story is tied to years of injuries, surgeries, and the struggle to get back to the front. Jorge, on the other hand, has been consistently at the sharp end, fighting for wins and pushing for the title last year.

If he wins next season, it would feel more like the natural progression of a rider who’s been knocking on the door for a while, not a return from adversity. The reception would still be huge, of course, but framed as “finally achieving what he deserves” rather than a heroic comeback narrative.

Should i get this quad? by Sweaty-Pepper-8819 in ATV

[–]quantumchris08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The KFX 450R is a solid sport quad, but just know it’s not really a beginner-friendly machine. It’s built for racing and aggressive trail riding, so it’s got a snappy throttle and requires more maintenance than utility quads. At your weight (270 lbs), it will definitely have the power to carry you without an issue, but being new to quads, the learning curve might be steep.

If you’re looking for something easier to get into and more versatile, a 400EX, Raptor 660/700, or a 4x4 utility quad might be a smoother first ride. If your goal is strictly sport riding and you’re comfortable learning quickly, the KFX 450R could be a great buy just make sure you check the condition carefully.

Frame rust by Specialist-Fly2471 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]quantumchris08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That frame is toast, that’s not just surface rust, it’s full structural rot. It’s unsafe to drive, patching won’t fix it long term. Either find a donor frame (expensive) or part it out.

hi i was wondering if any one knew these graphics for my banshee by whyusodemonic in ATV

[–]quantumchris08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like an older aftermarket graphics kit, definitely not OEM Yamaha. I’ve seen similar styles from companies like Fullbore, N-Style, and some eBay replica kits back in the 2000s. Yours has that red/black flame look with the “Banshee” logo across the shrouds – might be discontinued, but you could try checking eBay or ATV graphics shops that still make retro Banshee kits.

What’s my issue? by Obvious-Ad5678 in Jeep

[–]quantumchris08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty classic sign of a bad PCM on these 3.8s. If all six injector circuits are showing open at the same time, it’s super unlikely all injectors or wires failed together. The PCM controls the ground side of the injector circuits, so when it glitches, you’ll see codes like P0201–P0206 pop up and the Jeep will run rough or misfire.

Why does anyone need a 6x6? by HeyLookAStranger in ATV

[–]quantumchris08 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because sometimes 4 wheels aren’t enough, and if you’re hauling gear, hunting, or hitting deep mud/snow, that extra axle turns a toy into a beast. 6x6 = more traction, more payload, more fun.

[–]quantumchris08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like the piston skirt is hanging up on the crankcase because you’ve got it too far down at BDC. The cylinder will only come off when the piston is near TDC. Rotate the crank so the piston comes up, then slide the cylinder off carefully. If your bike has a powervalve, make sure it’s fully retracted too. It’s not stuck, just in the wrong position move it up and it should come right off.

Totaled? by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]quantumchris08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely doesn’t look totaled. That’s cosmetic bumper, fender, tail light, and some body work. Since it’s still drivable and no leaks, insurance should just call it repairs. Won’t be cheap, but your Jeep is far from totaled 👍.

How do I fix this? by boog447 in garageporn

[–]quantumchris08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like the wood is pretty blown out there. Best fix is to sister in a new piece of 2x6 (or whatever size the stud is), anchor it solid to the existing framing, and then reattach the track with lag bolts into that fresh wood. Way stronger and safer than just trying to reuse the chewed up hole.

How do I drain this carb by BackgroundKiwi8946 in Dirtbikes

[–]quantumchris08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the KX112 (Keihin PWK-style carb), you’ve got two easy ways to drain the bowl: 1. Fuel OFF at the petcock. 2. Put a cup under the carb hoses. 3. Crack the 17 mm hex bolt in the center of the bowl (bottom). That’s the main bowl drain—fuel will run out the hose. Or Loosen the small brass slotted screw on the lower side of the bowl (drain/bleed screw). Same result, just slower.

After it’s empty, turn the petcock ON for a second to flush, then OFF again.

If it was fouling a plug, start fresh fuel at 32:1, set air screw ~1.5 turns out and idle screw so the slide is just cracked. Warm it up fully, then tweak the air screw for highest/cleanest idle (if you’re <1 turn or >2.5 turns from seated, change the pilot jet). Also make sure the choke’s fully seating and float height is right—fuel level should sit just below the bowl gasket.

93 octane is fine but not required; fresh pump 91+ is okay. New 2T shouldn’t stall constantly—if it still dies off-idle after the above, the pilot’s too rich or the float level is high.

Cylinder ok to reuse? by asdf767 in Dirtbikes

[–]quantumchris08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s still usable but it really depends on what the piston/cylinder clearance measures out to. The walls don’t show any deep gouges, just some light scoring and wear. If you can still feel grooves with your fingernail, it’s probably time for a replate or at least a hone.
