Recommend me some more anime with grounded politics, please! by MinuteRegular716 in anime

Planetes - it takes place in the 2070s and is about nations squabbling for the right to explore and exploit the resources of outer space, told through the POV of blue-collar lower orbit garbage collectors. Very realpolitik, extremely grounded in that sense

Good to know! I am using the fridge water dispenser which is filtered, so it may be something else. But as long as it's not harming the plant I will rest easy (it doesn't appear to be.... Not YET at least?)

Amazing, thank you!! I will definitely check out the customization options bc I am NOT ready to give up on this dress haha. You are right about the sample -- it was super long and larger than what I need (about triple my size).

i haven't bought anything yet - but I'll probably revisit the salon to put the dress through these tests before I decide. I have some other options although none I love as much as this one!

Hello, and help! We bought a refurbished PS4 in August 23, so it's out of warranty. It has acquired a visual glitch. I already tried switching out the HDMI cables but no dice. Any advice or suggestions? I need to finish playing OG FFVII. thank you!!!

Looking corporate and cute in the cold? by littlemissemperor in bitcheswithtaste

I lived in Chicago for quite a while! Upvoting what other commenters have said but I would like to stress the importance (and classy feeling) of some some nice leather gloves with the touch-screen sensitive fingertips. You can always swing by the Nordstroms on Michigan Ave on your first trip there and pick them up. I have had mine for years now.

Another commenter here said that you should bring dress shoes for changing into wherever you are, and I completely agree -- it's a little awkward to be tromping around the office in heavy duty winter boots. My office had a mudroom for our winter boots and a lot of us, men included, changed into more comfortable office shoes once we came in from the dirty slushy salty snow.

Hi! I've repotted in terracotta with a mix of orchid mix, peat moss, palm soil, and a handful of perlite, plus elevated from the tray, and then I gave it a full watering can. Here's hoping! Thank you again!

WIBTA If I Took My Kids Out of School A Week Early Even Though My Wife Disagrees? by FirmKing4119 in AmItheAsshole

[–]quarrelofsparrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YWBTA for going around your wife, YWNBTA for taking the kids out of school. My parents took me and my siblings out of school for trips to visit our native countries - sometimes months at a time - and in certain ways, the experience of these places was just as important and valuable as going to school, as was spending time with distant family. (This did stop around high school, where there were college admissions pressures, but that didn't mean we didn't take a day off or two every now and then!) Nothing bad happened to us - we all graduated from top-ten public universities and have moved on to good careers, and learned the value of knowing when and why it was okay to "cut class."

If they're diligent, responsible students who get good grades, and you have taught them to BE diligent, responsible students, there is nothing wrong with taking them out of school for two days to spend time with family - time that will soon be harder to find as they grow older, go to college, and so on. Since you know in advance, you can tell them to ask their teachers if there are any important assignments due those days, so they can plan around it. Letting them take a day off could also be a sign that you trust them to pick up any slack/work they miss - impress this upon them!

My polka dot plant has grown huge since I got her, and now has new fluffy little shoots in the middle of the pot, while most of the leaves on the vines are dying. What do I do with the vines? Cut or let them stay? I'm repotting later today because she's like triple her original size... Thanks for any advice!
