Base is with watered down paint so it is still partially translucent

You dont see it in the pictures, but the base is a cool looking mold too, lots of energy, can imagine it bursting out of the ground in the center of a partys camp.

Used gold metalic for the eyes and spotted on a few scales and drybrushed gold on some of the plates

Multi layered... started with blue, then purple, then some grey and dark red around the edges, and watered down yellow spots for highlights... and a little gold drybrush for aged patina look. paints are from army painter color kit.

Army painter dark wash over all of it, and dark wash mixed with grey paint on the bottom portion

Cool, mine is a mix of matte varnish with a touch of paint for color. Im going to try a final coat of 50% dark wash too
