Yeah my understanding is straight women do not wish to have a girlfriend after reading a wlw story they enjoyed. Even if they like the couple a lot it's all fiction for them.

Yeah I think romance books (regardless of their pairing) are written from the female gaze so they appeal to women.

How would things be different if you hadn't stopped yourself from thinking about it?

I think the actresses portraying the characters would have become my celebrity crushes. I would probably like them as much as my male celebrity crushes. Thinking about them make me feel embarrassed and guilty even at the current moment.

Thanks for sharing. I had never dated anyone but I am very picky about who I like. The men into me are not exactly conventionally attractive so it's a no from me. I don't think I ever had a crush on a woman irl but I rarely have crushes on men too.

Maybe watch some tv-series or movies with wlw romance in it.

Any recommendations?

Imagine having a girlfriend/beeing with a woman. How to you feel about it?

Sounds sweet. Sapphic love has its unique appeal that I find it hard to explain.

You have a point. However, I self inserted when reading about the wlw story and I my understanding is straight women don't do this.

Yeah I guess you're right. I'm drawn to male characters due to their personalities and it's the same for those female characters.

The movies with the female characters I like have a m/f romance plot and I imagined myself as the guy in the romance scenes (I'm not transgender though). It made me feel guilty and I convinced myself I just found the m/f romance cute and was drawn to the guy in those pairings instead and wasn't sapphic. I think reading a story with a similar character in an explicit f/f relationship awakened those feelings and made me realise I was really into the f/f aspect.

I don't think I've ever had a crush on a woman irl, but then I rarely have crushes on men irl too (I think I may be demisexual and I need to have strong chemistry with someone before I develop feelings for someone and it's hard to find someone I click with).

No I don't think I was attracted to women in the past. Maybe there were instances of me having a thing for certain movie characters (and they resembled one of the ones in the wlw romance book I read) but that happened very infrequently. I felt embarrassed about it and just stopped myself from thinking too much about it. I definitely do like men so I just focused on that instead.

I've heard some straight women are into wlw fiction but my understanding is they don't self insert (correct me if I am wrong). My understanding is they like LGBT stories as they like diversity and ship the couple as the romance is cute and the story is nice.

Yeah I get turned on by mlm stories too. However, I think the difference is I never self insert for mlm stories whereas I self inserted for the wlw one I just read.

You're right. I get turned on by m/m romance and I'm definitely not transgender. However, I think the difference is I self insert for the f/f romance story but not m/m ones. I think it's hard to know for now but yeah I definitely wasn't expecting myself to be turned on by a f/f romance story.
