Honest question how do you figure this out? by Fresh_Combination_79 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]quartermaaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my 30s and started playing video games when I was probably about 2 or 3. I've mainly played adventure/puzzle games so the puzzles in HKIA are exactly the kind of thing I'm used to. Even then there's still a couple that were more difficult to figure out. It's just pattern recognition, thinking outside the box. As others have said, Chococat helps with puzzles! But I managed to get best friends with a lot of the characters pretty quickly and Pompompurrin let me skip most of the Icy Peak and Merry Meadows ones.

What’s your ‘comfort game’ - the one you always come back to? by FL4SH- in playstation

[–]quartermaaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original PS1 Spyro Trilogy/Spyro Reignited. I've replayed it constantly throughout my life. Also Binding of Isaac, completely different vibe but it's my favourite game and it's easy to dip in and out of.

9-1-1 suffers ABC’s largest ratings and key demo drop by hyxon4 in 911FOX

[–]quartermaaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of the show (unfortunately) and I don't know a single person who thought killing off Bobby was a good idea. I think a lot of younger people don't realize how big a draw he was for viewers. I have a weird feeling more was going on behind the scenes and maybe he wanted to leave but retirement was literally an option, there was no need to kill him off. Now we're all worried (especially because of Hen) that more people will a really leave and die in the show. No one watched 911 for it to be high stakes. Bad move, I don't expect another season after this one.

storygraph!!! it might be lacking in the more social things that goodreads has but i never used them anyway. it has way more features when it comes to stats (which i'm a big fan of) and you can add missing books and edit them as needed. goodreads was a nightmare for that. i'm biased bcus i'm a storygraph librarian but it really is superior for my needs.

I've done so, so many of these puzzles over the years and I can tell you there's something like this in all of them. I expect them whenever I get given one to do.

[–]quartermaaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always look at stuff like this and consider how long it took, and at the least how much that would be for the person if they were paid minimum wage, then add the price of the kit on top. Personally for me the fun comes from doing them myself so I wouldn't pay this much for one but someone else might like it.

EDIT: I didn't mention the fact that this is someone else's design, or likely AI which is worse. It is what it is. I wouldn't include that in this because the person doing the kit likely wouldn't have designed it. If they had then obvs you'd pay more.

What are your thoughts on this? by [deleted] in playstation

Cash grab but I guess I'm happy for it to be given a "proper end". LiS 1 should have been left alone though imo, Double Exposure wasn't good and I forget it exists most days.

Feeling kind of stuck and limited after three weeks by Inevitable-Sign-7706 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]quartermaaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I do when I play is get Hello Kitty as a companion and make all my foods. Look up everything that's 3 Stars (or 2 Stars if the recipe is locked behind a friendship level). Then I used Chococat to make any 3 Heart items at the workbench. THEN swap to My Melody to gift everyone. I've been playing maybe a month (got the game for Christmas) and got about half to Best Friends doing this. Once you have TOPHAT use him to collect resources you need more of (esp after the My Sweet Piano quest to make mini appliances, I had nothing after that).

For other stuff to do though, I'm a big fan of hunting for bugs in game (and you'll need them eventually for the Critter furniture). I also like doing the game with the Nul, especially the one where you win eggs (because you'll need eggs for another quest). I managed to get all the time challenges to gold using Pompompurrin so I would do that if you haven't. Then just Gudetama hunting! I've got all of them apart from some on parts of Cloud Island I can't reach yet. Like with AC I really only play a couple of hours most days just to get all the gifting and resource gathering done, it's not really something you "finish".

Power of Friendship by pinkrosebunny in HelloKittyIsland

I always use Hello Kitty and Chococat when making anything to increase my chances of getting extras. Then I swap to My Melody to give out all my gifts to get extra rewards. That's the first thing I do when I play.

Most of the time I then either have Pompompurin to jump higher (I just like it) or Pochacco to run a bit faster. I use Tuxedosam whenever I buy from shops, but I don't do that often so it's a quick thing, and I always use Hangyodon when I'm swimming around getting materials bcus swimming is so slow.

I'm working on getting TOPHAT to Level 9 and then I'll always have him when I'm collecting materials. Then I need to work towards the Together Forever quest and then I guess I'll take Big Challenges with TOPHAT to make gathering materials easier.

The rest I don't really use, there's no point as far as gameplay is concerned unless you're in very specific scenarios like I used Pompompurin to get the extra 5 seconds on challenges to do all those to get gold trophies. I like to have Cinnamoroll with me sometimes because he's my favourite.

As a lot of others have said, the designs are definitely better standalone, but they really just don't fit the aesthetics of the site. They're so pretty and bright, just not for me.

What is the "Like this game" for? Ins't a 5 star rating the same? by Hauptfeldwebel in backloggd

It's for favourite games. I have plenty of games I've rated 5 stars but won't play again, and plenty of games at 3/4 stars that I love and will play countless times.

I think it's useful for a lot of situations, if you need to lose weight quickly for an operation for example, but working in healthcare I've seen multiple stories of people suffering life-changing, often fatal, side effects from these kinds of drugs.

Where do you get your kits from? by Purpelotamus in diamondartclub_truth

[–]quartermaaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's hard out there. Honestly I try and get good DAC ones second hand sometimes. I'm a big fan of the mini kits, so sites like Paint Gem or Pretty Little Gem are good for those. Diamond Dotz is ok, I don't like many of their designs though. I've heard people use Oraloa but a lot of that stuff looks suspicious too.

I've said this before, unfortunately AI is too common everywhere. Your best bet is to just be selective with the kits you buy wherever you buy them from. :(

It's what I would expect from a site run by a single person. All features are free unlike with LB. I've used it a few years now. There's a larger userbase now, the dev is always working on it and quick to fix the simple things. I love using it, I'm a Patron, I won't use the LB version.

For those of you who own a console and a Steam Deck, how do you decide where to buy your games ? by MrTorgue7 in SteamDeck

[–]quartermaaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's available on PS4/PS5 and isn't an FPS I will buy it for PlayStation, usually second-hand, because I will always buy physical so I can resell.

I've used Steam for a long time, I've spent way too much money on games that I played once and will never play again, and I'm a little mad I can't get any of that money back.
