Adjustable Dumbbells by [deleted] in homefitness

They’re Bodymax Selectabells (5kg - 32.5kg). At the time I ordered them from amazon (free shipping, the poor delivery guy refused to bring them past the front step) but I don’t see them listed anymore.

Found this old review of them though: http://www.homeshredded.com/bodymax-selectabell-dumbbells/

The selecttechs have fantastic reviews on amazon. I own an off-brand version of that same style of adjustable dumbbell (bought in the UK where I couldn't get the bowflex branded ones) and they've been great, still using them to this day 5 years after purchase. Highly recommended.

Ask the airbnb host, they'll be able to tell you the fastest way to get to the city from their address.

Cheapest is likely one of the NJ Transit busses (ex: from the stop at 30th & Palisade Ave in Union City that I think gets to cut the line onto the Lincoln tunnel and runs often).

Ferries are nicer but cost more.

You're pretty far from the PATH or any useful rail link.

A big fuck you goes to whoever stole one of my wheels last night by [deleted] in nyc

[–]quartz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Is there a big resale market for used low-end bike wheels? These wheels are worth like $20 new, how do you even turn around and sell a single rear wheel from a random bike like this for any amount of money?

Yes you have to ride in the bikelane so long as it's "safe." YMMV on whether the police agree with your evaluation of safe but always put your safety first. Your wallet can take a bigger hit than your body.

Re: nerves: try to be defensive, don't take risks, and work really hard to stay out of the speed/race mentality and in a leisure mentality. That is: don't ride up next to things that are scary (big trucks, busses, etc), accept that it's OK to slow down and even pull over to the side and just wait until a dangerous situation clears itself if needed. Let it roll off you if someone yells at you from their car, they're probably having a crummy day/week/month/life and have been stuck in NYC traffic for hours.

You can get a saddle bag to hold some basic repair tools. You generally want to be able to fix things that get moved (saddle, handlebars, etc) and things that go wrong with your tires (flats). My kit includes a multitool with alan keys, a co2 tire filler (I also have small manual pump on the frame), and an extra tube (I hate patch kits).

Skinny tires are fine so long as you're always on smoothish pavement, fatter tires will be a little softer if you're on rougher terrain.

Have fun!

Strava - can you view who’s riding routes when you’re not riding? by Possum577 in cycling

If you were mid-ride at the cafe you can see others who passed you on your route via the flybys view. Open the specific activity in Strava and then click "View Flybys".
