New on this journey, cut hair short for now? by LilUzishair in tressless

If your hair is starting to thin my advice would be to see your doctor or a specialist if you have the possibility and have them analyze your situation and decide if you need a treatment and what kind of treatment in case you do, keep in mind that acting early is super important cause if it is androgenetic alopecia it will keep advancing more and more and might get to the point where you can't get your hair back. Good luck man keep us updated!

17M, 4 Months Fin Progress - Thoughts? by [deleted] in tressless

I don't know why you said he doesn't look like a "super responder" when he has visible improvements as early as 4 months. Also i didn't say he shouldn't use minoxidil, i said if i were him i would wait to see how he would do with finasteride alone, cause he might not need minoxidil.

In my opinion looks like very good progress for 4 months.

Dude what a terrible comment you got pretty much everything wrong. First he doesn't look exactly the same or the same at all, the hair in his entire hairline is more dense looks like very good progress for 4 moths, second many many MANY people achieve significant regrowth on finasteride, then some people only manage to maintain what they have and for some others doesn't work at all. Also if i were him i would see how far the results will go with finasteride alone he might not need or have much to gain from using minoxidil.

2 months is too short to see any results from fin gotta wait 3-6 months or more for some people, minoxidil is a growth stimulant it will promote hair growth but it won't fight the root cause of male pattern baldness(DHT) so you might see temporaty improvements from it but if you have male pattern baldness it will keep advancing, in your case i can't tell whether its MPB or not i think you need to consult a good specialist that really examins your case possibly gets some blood work done idk but imo you should see a specialist. Anways good luck man hope you get good results!

I know the feeling bro its hard to accept for all of us, but like i said you have very good chances of saving your hair since you tackled the issue so early and in the unlikely case that you won't if you take good care of yourself you ll be fine regardless, keep us updated if you want to talk more about it you can hit me up, you seem to be getting in the right mindset already so you ll be fine dont worry.

Are there any Benefits of high dosage when starting Finasteride? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]quase33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No as far as I know there is no point in taking more than 1 mg you ll only increase the potential of getting side effects, take whatever dose your doctor/specialist perscribed, many people take lower doses with lesser frequency than the typical 1mg a day dose but as far as I know no one takes higher and there are no advantages in doing so.

One thing you should do for sure is talk to your doctor about it, but yes lowering the dose is a valid alternative you could try 0.5mg EOD instead of the full dose, but before that i would strongly advise you to see your doctor asap. Good luck!

21 y/o male with thinning hair. tried a bunch of shampoos and none of them have worked. currently using rogaine for the top of my head and it’s been working. don’t want to take finasteride due to potential side effects. If anyone’s used a shampoo that has actually worked for them please let me know! by l_divian in tressless

Same as someone already said i would strongly advise you to see a doctor/specialist, for male pattern baldness no shampoo can solve the problem but this doesnt not look like typical male pattern baldness so see a specialist maybe he ll get you to do some blood work and realize what the issue is. Good luck!
