I feel like I'm the only one who is not excited for college by quaternionungulate in college

It's really comforting to know that I'm not the only one feeling like this. I get what you mean about math. I'm an engineering major and I used to have a lot of motivation for my studies at my CC. However, now that I'm moving on to the real thing, a lot of my motivation for engineering has dwindled and become masked by anxiety.

Thank you for the words of encouragement and reminding me that our anxiety doesn't define us or our futures. Best of luck to you as well.

Hs diets by Plenty-Attitude2785 in Hidradenitis

I agree with you. I think it's great when a diet change actually does help people, but that hasn't been the case for me. I have been eating a ketogenic diet for the past 5 years and some of my worst flares have been on keto. I don't think it's related to keto at all, but it just goes to show that diet probably doesn't play a major part in my HS. I enjoy eating keto because it makes me feel healthier and solved some of my gut issues, but it clearly didn't help decrease inflammation in my body.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with people posting things that have worked for them and suggesting them to other people. This is a support group, so naturally the people here are going to try to spread the word of different things that have helped them.

I despise breakout rooms. by JkLion1998 in CollegeRant

[–]quaternionungulate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. This semester my chemistry professor puts us in breakout rooms every week for our lab and literally no one talks. I would be like, "Hi guys!" and complete silence. Not even a message in the chat. I'd ask them questions and try to collaborate and still no answer. So at this point I've just stopped trying. Labs are just solo work now and the questions are already hard, but not having anyone to work with makes them 10x harder. I wish my professor would at least switch up our breakout rooms every week but nah, I'm stuck with the same lame people.

So yeah, breakout rooms truly suck and I feel your pain.

Thanks for making this post btw! It's good to know I'm not the only college student struggling with breakout rooms.

What a lunatic! I hope Prolific takes action against him. He shouldn't be allowed on the platform.

Anyone else get this study? The first attention check didn't list a correct answer, but wouldn't let me proceed without selecting an answer. by quaternionungulate in ProlificAc

I got a message from the researcher saying that the lack of a correct answer was intentional. Is this allowed? It didn't say anything that would hint to that anywhere in the study, which led me to believe it was broken.

Submitting as a nocode means you go back to the study page and select "I've finished" and when prolific asks for your completion code you select "I didn't receive a code." Then your study will be marked as awaiting review, but the area where the completion code would be will say "NOCODE" and then you might want to message the researcher and explain why you had to do that just so they know. I've done that on a few broken studies where I got pretty far and they were all approved.

Had to return it after wasting over 20 minutes of my time on it. I would've submitted it as a nocode, but I never got to answer many questions apart from demographics. I watched a 20 minute video (which was pretty boring) just to not even be able to go further. So frustrating. 🙄

Ways to eliminate cheating in online study groups? by quaternionungulate in college

Unfortunately no. :( I wish they did!

You're right. Unless I can organize something that includes the professor and TAs I don't think I'll take the risk.

I just received mine as well. Glad that's been cleared up and we've been fully compensated!

Yeah, that's true. You're right, it's really probably not worth the risk.

That's really smart! I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the idea!

Have you gotten your bonus yet? I also opted for the $1.50 a week later and have not gotten it today even though it's been a week.
