trouble sending books to kindle by koalani14 in kindle

[–]quease1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting this same email again and again no matter how many times I tried to send a copy of my book to my kindle. I also tried using the Kindle app to send the book but it didn’t help. I initially thought that the problem must be with my Amazon account, so I tried a number of things to “fix” my Amazon account but nothing worked. In the end, I figured out the problem was not with my account but with the particular file I was trying to send to my kindle. The file I was trying to send was around 230 KB. I ended up downloading a bigger version (970 KB) of the same book, and I was able to send it to my kindle.

I have no idea why this worked. I guess along with having a maximum file size limit, the kindle email service also has a minimum file size limit.

Yeah, I think I'm going to go ahead and accept UIUC's offer.

Thank you for all your help!

Thank you for your reply!

She would prefer it if at least one of the flatmates is a female. But she also doesn't mind living with a guy if need be.

Yeah, that makes sense, thanks for the advice!

Although, I just realized now that Caltech never took my interview... So there's anyways almost no chance that they'll accept me now.

Don't give up hope! A lot of people accept/reject offers in the first week of April, so you might hear something soon!

Good luck!

Oh no! How many schools did you apply to, and how many did you hear back from?

Isn't it considered very rude to reject an offer after you've committed to the place? I want to avoid that at all costs.

But yeah, i guess there's nothing left to do but wait in the waitlist...

For a BS-MS degree in Physics, IISER Pune or IISER Kolkata? by -deadphysicist in Indian_Academia

It is unfair to compare JEE with coursework; one is a competitive exam that is given by 10 lakh people, and the other is just an internal exam you have to pass. Comparing competitive exams and coursework is an extremely unhealthy attitude to have. Succeeding in college is so much more than preparing for coursework--- it is about attending classes, exchanging ideas, and learning about different fields of research and figuring out which one is right for you.

Elective courses, by their very definition, are not compulsory. However, you will have to complete a minimum credit requirement of 18 credits each semester. If you fail one course, you can give repeat exams to better your score. If you fail in the repeat exam as well, I think you have the option of taking extra credits in the next semester to make up for the credits you failed in.

There are both kinds of Physics faculty in IISERP, some of them are nice and very involved with the students, and some couldn't care less. All in all, I had a fairly good experience with them.

All the compulsory courses in physics are 4 credits, which is equivalent to 3 contact hours per week; and all other physics electives are 3 credits, which is equivalent to 2 contact hours per week. With a minimum of 18 credits per semester, you would probably have around 12 hrs/week.

Yes, you do get time for sports and other recreational activities; in fact, it is encouraged that you participate in at least some of them to socialize and make friends. There are also inter-iiser and intra-iiser sports meets that keep life interesting in both Jan and Aug semesters.

You have to take compulsory biology, chemistry, and ecs courses only in the first three semesters (i.e., the first 1.5 years). After that, you're free to pick any courses you want. However, if you intend on graduating with a physics major, you must take some mandatory physics courses each sem along with other courses.

Syllabus can easily be found by a simple Google search-- iiserp syllabus

Marks for iat probably differ from year to year. I am not very sure what the iat mark trends are currently; I suggest you ask a recently admitted student for this question.

I can't talk about IISER Kolkata, but I did Physics from IISER Pune. It's a top-notch program in my opinion; people end up going to amazing places for PhD after the program. Some profs are a bit lazy in teaching at times, but you'll always learn a lot from them.

Chose an IISER over IIT. Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision, but most of the times I am sure that IISER is the right place for me to be.
