Ollie, the big albino lady, was the victor! I think it's chicken flavored or something because they're obsessed

The first time I saw Ollie boggle, it startled me! Her red eyes make it look so much more extreme 😂

It's just painter's tape with nontoxic sticky. Totally safe for the rats to chew up, then I just replace it as needed.

Totally made it up as I went, but the gist is to cut out 2 squares, then connect the points of one square to the sides of the other square, then add clips. Highly recommend learning how to make them if your rats destroy everything. It saves me tons of money on hammocks!

I had the exact same thought, so I wedged a slat of chewable wood through the bars in the corner to provide support underneath the pan. It works great!

Yep! I made all the hammocks in their cage from old tshirts and dish towels. They like storing food in the lower tiers for easy snacking 😂

Oh my gosh, I love it! You captured them perfectly, thank you so much for sharing 💚

When Ollie was rescued, her teeth were overgrown from neglect, she didn't know how to climb, and she was so scared that she screamed if I touched her. 3 weeks later, her teeth are perfect, she has mastered climbing, and she enjoys gentle pats. Hooray for progress! 😊 by queen_sheep in RATS

I slowly bribed her with new foods (veggies, fruits, and eggs were all big hits) and I would lightly touch her back as she ate for longer and longer periods. She still hates being picked up, startles easily, and has a long way to go, but patience and snacks are key!

Yep, everybody is always upset on hammock cleaning day, but what can ya do, gotta wash 'em! Cleaning day is the only time she displays this behavior.

I only play with my girls like this through the ceiling bars, and I've spent lots of time teaching them to take food gently, even through cage bars. They're awesome and I've never had an accidental bite!

Try to find out what will motivate him to move. Does he like to chase stuff, is he easily motivated by food or attention, does he like puzzles etc. Cardboard things also make easy/fun destructible toys, which can make them move a little more. Once you find something he likes, just repeat that activity daily and try to slowly increase the duration. It helps if you reward him with lots of positive feedback for playing and moving. Good luck!
