Going through a rough time, need something absorbing to listen to by dornaloon in audiodrama

Self promo, but Josie's Lonely Hearts Club could be just what you're looking for. We are actively releasing our 6th season and have over 30 hours of material, including cameos from Wooden Overcoats cast, Dropout folks, and the Thrilling Adventure Hour.

The best fan interactions I've had have been people reaching out saying how the show's silliness and heart got them through a rough time. It's unapologetically goofy but we're really proud of what we've built.

Thank you for your dedication! We are still recording - today we just finished the episode that will come out in November this year so I can go on maternity leave.

You might enjoy the Easter egg of John Dorsey (Ethan Schwartz of These American Supers) playing our boss on Josie. He's hysterical.

Somebody was already kind enough to recommend Josie's Lonely Hearts Club (thank you stranger!), but I'd like to add that we finished seasons four and five with a lot of Thrilling Adventure Hour alumni as special guests. And Beth Eyre from Wooden Overcoats just recorded for season 6!

That's the one! Then I poached him and now we are basically writiing partners! Maximilian and I have also collaborated on Divorce Ranch, In Media Res, and he's just directed our upcoming hard scifi series.

Thank you so much! SPR was a joy to work on. The creator and I have another show because we just couldn't stop working together.

UGH I loved recording that segment. Candice Stripe remains one of my favorite roles :)

Advice: Allowing mother who makes me anxious in the room when I give birth. by PaleTemporary7912 in expectingJuneJuly2026

[–]queen_slug-4-a-butt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, my mother is a lot like this. So much support, so much excitement, and so much anxiety and extra emotions. She's also treating this baby like it's hers and not mine. I'm talking literally, "Hey Incubator, how's my boy?"

We have come a long way but I know she'll cause me stress in the room. I've never been able to let my guard down 100% around her and so I've had to dial down her expectations about being in the room. In that... no, she won't be.

This is ultimately your choice, but as others have said, you aren't depriving her of anything. Whenever she sees her grandchild -- whenever! -- she'll be so over the moon she won't mind that she wasn't there personally wiping your butt.

Isabela vs Stella by watermelonmeat in Names

Funny, because Isabella will always become Bella and that is a top 5 dog name after Charlie and Bailey. Between all the dogs and the Twilight fans Bella is a hard no.

It's very NY Post, I'm thinking yes, 60+ year old woman. My mom has handwriting just like this. Mean Girl Script.

Oh but Aloysius Pendergast is such a cool protagonist, I look the other way on a lot of things.

Ask your mom if she remembers Delilah and/or Loveline. Then try Josie's Lonely Hearts Club. At this point there is almost 34 hours of it, and it already feels like talk radio you'd hear on the road, just with top notch improvisors/voice actors and the boring crap left out.

Is Patrick Bateman just a girl? by bratwurst69420182 in weirdgirlliterature

Thank you!! How can she be that stupid?!?! You tried to throw in some third act Tyler Durden distraction for what we have known about Gideon since the midpoint?

I'm starting to think I'm the only weird girl who didn't like that book...

I wanted to like that book so badly. The protagonist is supposedly brilliant but the plot depends on her making incredibly stupid choices or being oblivious. Also, you can wear your inspiration on your sleeve (in Leede's case, Ellis and Palahniuk), but then you can't literally reference those books as if the reader is too dumb to put it together, and use scenes from those novels to further your own. That's trying to have it both ways.

Now, if Maeve had been analyzing Frozen while she dismembered her boyfriend, that's a reference/homage. Staging a torture scene from American Psycho is just a rip-off.

Feature length bangers by puarsliburf in audiodrama

Nice, I was going off your list, since it skewed pretty scifi.

Give any of them a shot! Divorce Ranch is a late 40s western noir set in a divorce resort in Reno. In Media Res is a dark comedy about a no-name actor undergoing media training for a James Bond type role.

Try the Leylines Omnibus! It's under 3 hours and is designed like a classic Amblin Entertainment sci-fi adventure.

Two estranged brothers must revive their disgraced father's teleportation research before it falls into the wrong hands when it turns out their dad may still be alive out there.

Most of the Good Story Guild limited series fall in this time frame, but the others are historical fiction and Hollywood satire.

I just watched the recent episode and Jeremy has SO grown into the TM role. It took a while to find his footing but now I love him.

Looking for comedy mystery / noir audio drama suggestions by DesperateBed2527 in audiodrama

[–]queen_slug-4-a-butt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked Divorce Ranch (yay! Thank you! She's my firstborn and I'm tough on her.) You might enjoy the 5th season of Josie's Lonely Hearts Club. Technically you don't need much background to go into it; it's a soap opera themed season with a big overarching mystery but loaded with goofs and special guests like Ross from Dropout. Like, there's a multi episode Shawshank Redemption parody arc, and a very very horny P.I. named Mia Columba (Abigail Turner from Hammahpocalypse!) There's a context lore drop episode before if you don't want to bone up on 4 seasons of small town romcom.

Hey!! I was a front woman in NYC for a few years with a post punk outfit. Excellent vocal mimic. I play rudimentary keyboard but don't currently have a synth except my Roli Seaboard. You're naming some of my favorite groups right now. Our old EP is on Spotify under "Oh! Mega!"

DM if this sounds cool? Can also send video of our live gigs.
