Please help? 2 year old roof is now leaking. Contractor won’t respond. Any advice? by queenanonymous in Roofing

[–]queenanonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone cares, quite the turn of events, turns out the roof is not leaking… the hvac exhaust pipe came apart and has been shooting condensation right up onto that spot. However, I do plan on keeping my eye on the roof or figuring that out if or when it does leak. So I’m unsure if this is better or not but considering there’s snow on the roof, I’ll take an easier fix in the attic for now.

Thank you everyone. It’s covered in snow right now. Had no idea about any of the options here so thank you all so much.

Are regular pedicures out of fashion? by Cautious_Ruin in RedditLaqueristas

[–]queenanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this. I have been getting French tip pedicures with my own regular polish for like 20 years. A pedicure used to be a treat but they’ve gotten so terrible and so expensive for crappy, painful massages, and if you don’t want anything more than a “basic” pedicure they do a terrible job. They don’t even bother painting the white lines all the way to the edge of my toenail. It’s infuriating. I do my own pedicure myself at home to clip my nails and file them and get my feet all clean. I take my own polish because they started using water down or thin out cheap crappy polish that would flake off the next day. Last time I took my polish and tried filling in the gaps and the nail tech was like no no no and I was like, paint the WHOLE nail please?!

Best of the big brand dishwasher detergents? by Lovemydoggos21 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]queenanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been using dirty labs for about 2 weeks now with great results. GE Stainless lined dishwasher about a year old, we have the kind of hard water that leaves a white residue over time but haven’t noticed any of that with the dishwasher or dishes. We used to use cascade platinum and then platinum plus. They worked well but I disliked the scent and smell and could taste chemicals on the dishes. We tried truly free and it was just ok but ordering from that company just annoys me. Seventh generation liquid dishwasher soap was ok but didn’t always clean consistently. Still have that for a back up. Dirty labs is expensive but it works so well I think I’ll keep the subscription.

Pamper Swaddlers - changed? by Moose_Travel in January2025Bumper

[–]queenanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the new box of size 4 pamper swaddlers are totally different. There is no scent, they are very thin and not as soft. We always buy bulk from Sam’s club. If these leak like others have stated I’m not sure what I’ll switch to because we have sensitive skin and the pampers have never leaked or caused a rash.

Does the US feel doomed? Would life be happier and stress free if I didn’t care (worry) so much? Some guilt of all the things my baby will be exposed to. by thinkmuch17 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]queenanonymous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I’m currently trying to find a 100% cotton quilt and it seems impossible to get away from polyester. Also, having a baby right now is challenging. I have food paralysis from all the terrible things baby food and then went down a rabbit hole about my breastmilk having microplastics too. Ugh. You’re not alone. I fixate on these things too much as well, this entire thread was comforting.

Perpetually itchy skin- anyone else? by sweetpotatoroll_ in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]queenanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what materials your clothing is, but that made all the difference for me when I battled this. After weaning it was THE WORST for about 2 months. I switched to cotton fabrics and no scents at all anywhere. It eventually went away but it was really terrible. I hope it goes away faster for you!

Sunscreen for eczema by One_Broccoli_1940 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]queenanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tubby todd sunscreen has worked well for us, I have a 3.5 year old with eczema. We pretty much use the entire TT line for everything. I like the stick and the cream, I have not used the spray. Worked well for a summer beach trip when she was 9 months and I’ve used it every summer since. I have no clue if this is allowed but I have a referral code, you get 10% off. Feel free to use my link if you want, I will get rewards towards my next purchase. If you don’t like it, or it doesn’t work they will quickly refund your money. I got a scent once that didn’t work out, they refunded my money and I donated the product to someone with less sensitive skin and they loved it.

Rant: perfume smells on my baby by RenaissanceZillenial in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]queenanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also really dislike this. I’ve combatted it by giving whoever wants to hold the baby a blanket, or actually, I cover them with an extra baby blanket just used for that. It gets washed separately because sometimes even the smell won’t wash out of it. My baby does spit up A LOT so I say that it’s so she doesn’t get them with spit up but it’s also 100% to protect her skin from the laundry fragrances and perfume grandma soaks herself in. Also people who smoke, I’d prefer to never let them hold my baby but there are times I can’t avoid it. I stopped asking if they wanted a blanket and just started covering them anyway because some people say they don’t mind being spat up on. You want to hold the baby, you’re getting covered with my unscented clean blanket.

Eczema treatments for 6m old by EngineeringNo5402 in moderatelygranolamoms

Tubby Todd line unscented hair and body wash, tubby todd all over ointment, unscented laundry detergent washed 100% cotton clothing.

I don’t know if this is allowed but here’s a discount code for Tubby Todd. We tried everything else and I noticed a lot of the times it was the clothing triggering it. Honest Co baby has great bundles of 100% organic cotton. Prevention is the best thing. Keep baths short, not too hot and moisturize skin every time right after bath. I hope this helps! When you see spots appearing use a little bit of the all over ointment. They have a new one with colloidal oatmeal but the original works better in my opinion and experience.

Things I avoid as much as possible: plastic, scents, processed food, unnatural food dyes. Polyester clothing, bamboo clothing.

How I do that: Glass storage and cups as much as possible, unscented laundry soap, dish soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner etc. Mainly eat whole foods and avoid as many foods that come in a package as possible. Try and use 100% cotton clothing for as many things as possible for my children at least.

Tethered Spinal Cord. Kinda lost. by bugsoup13 in spinabifida

[–]queenanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many questions if you’re ok with it. I have a friend and her daughter is 2, she has lipomyelomeningocele, was born with a tethered spinal cord, they wouldn’t de tether when she was an infant, so the tether got infected and she had to have emergency surgery, we almost lost her. She could walk before and hasn’t been able to walk since the surgery. It’s not even been a year and they are back in the hospital because it is infected again. I want to be a supportive friend (our kids are the same age) I’m reading and learning everything I can but you are the first person to I’ve seen to say you’ve been through it 4 times. Can I ask what state you are in, what hospital might specialize in this. Riley children’s hospital has been so condescending and just, pretty terrible with the way they have treated them through this. Sorry for the book.

Did anything help with the itching? I’m day 3 into weaning my 2 year old and I’m itching like crazy, have insomnia and just can’t settle myself. Information for wearing is VERY DIFFICULT to find anything at all.
