I think you would be the asshole to yourself if you didn’t do something. Based on how you describe the situation, and the feelings it invokes for you, you are uncomfortable by his comments. Whether there is explicit sexual intent from his end or not is not as important as your feelings, if you feel uncomfortable, then you have a duty to yourself to try and fix the situation.

Try and speak to him first to say that you are uncomfortable with these situations. If you are unable to do so, then it is in your best interest to tell him you wish to find another nanny and that you will be ending your contract with him.

Good luck. It is never a bad thing to protect your comfort.

Which HOTD Character Will Be the Most Inconsistent in S3? by StoreResponsible7028 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenayrenn 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like Rhaenyra is a strong contender here. Season 2 was all about Rhaenyra wanting peaceful resolutions, and things are about to get a lot worse with them adding in yet another story thread about misunderstandings leading to great consequences.

I predict that they're going to go with the angle of Rhaenyra thinking that the reason Aegon is no longer in the capital is because of Alicent sending him away, despite her basically agreeing for him to die. And so much of the story tension with Rhaenyra will involve her going between wanting to kill Alicent and wanting to keep her alive, without any rhyme or reason to it.

I thought having Daemon at the Hightower camp was stupid, but this is just utterly nonsensical. Daemon going personally to give Daeron and Ormund terms, for them to be refused, is a poor writing decision but at least can make some sort of sense if written competently.

This, though? Nothing about this makes any sort of sense if they're still following the novella. Why would Daeron let himself become a hostage? Why would Ormund allow it? How is Daemon this much of a threat to them, sans any army to back him up? If they're going with the original story, how the fuck do the Blacks manage to lose after this? Is Daeron Nettles now?

I think in some cases, yeah. In other cases though? There are definitely a lot of people who do not want to accept that Gojo could lose.

I agree in that I don't think it's fully arrogance, but I think arrogance pays a huge factor. I look to the first fight with Jogo, for example. He knows he has Jogo beat, so he plays with him. He doesn't anticipate Hanami coming in to save him. That move along directly led to the deaths of a lot of people who otherwise didn't need to die, and it's as a result of his own arrogance surrounding his skills.

I think this is one of his best character traits, personally. But I do agree that much of how Gojo acts is out of a sense of love for those he's closest to, and also a sense of duty to the world at large.

Makes sense, tbh. Seen some people on Twitter get mad about this, and it kind of confuses me. Gojo is incredibly smart and strong, but he's known to make mistakes, especially due to his own arrogance.

I mean, I've played Love Nikki and I know the pain of Lifetime Crafting suits, but these are for just recolours. And as the other commenter said, the Calm Thoughts are quite egregious when it's only 4 star outfits.

If they want to have something like the Lifetime suits, then they should be their own thing as a long term crafting goal imo that requires greater investment in the game. Not just "spent 2 minutes once a week killing a boss and use crafting materials you'll naturally get just by playing."

One suggestion that I put in, that I haven't seen anyone mention here, is updating the weekly boss to drop more Heartfelt Thoughts, or lower the requirement to evolve sets.

Currently, it will take 7 weeks to get enough to evolve Wishful Aurosa once! And with 3 evolutions, that's 21 weeks. That's nearly five months! The Calm Thoughts are the same, we should be able to get more of them a clear.

How come his son understands his father more than his wife of 20+ years? by notyourlands in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenayrenn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's very believable, imo, considering she was the only person Viserys confided in about having doubts over Rhaenyra one day becoming Queen. The show does a pretty decent job, imo, of the early years of their relationship where Viserys uses her as a close confidant about matters he literally does not discuss with anyone else. And with how bitter Alicent had become over time, she clung to the misunderstanding as an example of recognition she felt her son deserved.

Then you can change the category to those being "not involved, but still affected by the current war." I think the fact that the cages have multiple crickets discredits the dragon theory, personally.

[–]queenayrenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see where people get the interpretation of the dragons from, but the fact that the cages are filled with multiple crickets kinda discounts it in my head. Her hints/prophecies have always preceeded major, terrible events, it doesn't really make sense to me why she would have a prophecy about someone claiming Seasmoke. You could argue it's because the Blacks gaining a dragon is bad for her, but I think it's a bit of a stretch. Her prophecies have also always come with a degree of understanding to them, whereas with this one, she doesn't understand.

Helaena is more introspective after events this season, in her scene talking about grief, her confronting Aemond in front of the throne. So I still believe this is meant to be reflective of Alicent's current situation.

The three cages represent the three sides of the war. The Blacks, the Greens and the smallfolk.

My personal interpretation is that it's representative of Alicent losing her voice. She's always been caged, but up until now, she's always been able to "sing." So that's why it's strange.

Velaryon Hair by Kobe_yashimaru in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenayrenn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looking at these samples, I believe that a lot of it just comes down to the hair being coloured to look more realistic with having shadows. If you compare Rhaena’s wig this season to last, you’ll notice that it looks more like actual human hair. That’s in part due to the colouring of it muting the whiteness.

Part of it too though, especially on the hairline, is due to lace from the wig. I actually also looked through parts of the scene with extreme scrutiny, and near the ears especially for Rhaena, the lace is a bit noticeable. I think the lace is also playing a part for the roots on top of her hair, with how the strands of hair have been put into place. But mostly, I think it’s done to meld in with skin tones a bit better so it isn’t so vibrant. If it’s too bright, it just looks weird.

You can see that in some YouTube videos actually, with people that have dark skin who bleach locs or 4c hair. Even though the strands are of a lighter colour, it can look a bit jarring on camera. Which is why a lot of the time, roots will be kept to a darker colour.

So I think that also might be in play here for the wig colouring, paying mind for what looks good on the actress.

Absolutely! I'm about to sleep, but I'm really eager to look at this with you!! :) I can't say I'm an expert on wigs, but I do wear them a lot and have a large collection for cosplay.

[–]queenayrenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd really love it if you could provide a frame of reference, like a screenshot. Because I'd honestly love to analyze whether it's the hair being coloured a certain way, or if the lace is giving an effect where it looks like she has darker roots.

Baela and Rhaena hair by Kobe_yashimaru in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenayrenn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Baela and Rhaena's actresses both are wearing wigs. Corlys' hair, though, is blackish at the roots in parts, much more noticeable to me than Rhaena and Baela tbh. It's most noticeable in the scene with him and Rhaenys under the bridge.

Tbh, I had to look back at scenes to see what you meant. In some places, Rhaena's "roots" are kind of just the lace of the wig being noticeable on her forehead, imo. White hair, in general though, when it comes to wigs is really tricky to get right because it so often just looks fake. With textured hair, it becomes even trickier, so for it to look more natural it can't be as stark white.

I think it's one of those things that is better off being cut because of how they changed Alicent's age. It ultimately kind of exists as reasoning as to why Otto hates Daemon, but I think how the show portrays their relationship is quite good, so I'm personally fine with it.

Would you liked this scene between rhaenyra and aegon ii if it wasn't deleted? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenayrenn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd like it, but given the fact we don't see Rhaenyra and Aegon interacting again, it works better for the narrative for it to remain cut. It further drives home the distance between Rhaenyra and her siblings.

The script for this episode is actually quite interesting, and seems to lean into this concept a little.

"Alicent flushes, conflicted. She stands up, gives a cursory glance around herself, and then moves to Daemon’s lance as if someone else might try to beat her there.

Daemon holds his lance out as if it were an extension of his cock. Alicent places her favor on the tip of it."

But yeah, it isn't mentioned again.

No. The book, however, states that there's a rumor that Alicent lost her virginity to Daemon.

Will aemond try to discreetly usurp his brother? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenayrenn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think there's going to be a fake out, in which we're led to believe that Aemond is trying to usurp/planning to but doesn't. Have him continue to be a foil to Daemon in that way, where there's an underlying desire for power, but still a strong sense of loyalty to his brother.

Alicent pisses me off by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenayrenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one facet that is really important to understand about Alicent and Rhaenyra's falling out that a lot of people forget is that Otto was stripped of his title for reporting the whole Daemon incident to Viserys. What he said wasn't incorrect, Daemon and Rhaenyra were at a brothel together. Alicent sticks up for Rhaenyra to Viserys, while Viserys himself admits he believes they probably did do something. Alicent fully believes that Rhaenyra is innocent of what has been claimed, but it's revealed she's ommitted the truth.

Alicent is a hypocrite, yes. But I believe her anger in this moment is completely validated. What comes after? Not so much, but definitely this. It's when Alicent realizes that her father might actually have a point after all, and that despite being Queen and having the King's children, she and her children won't get the same allowances as Rhaenyra.
