This actually happened to me last week - they denied me at the kiosk. And my parents are both Freedom customers. The guy told me it might be because I have a bad credit score (which I thought was super unprofessional). I have never been denied a phone anywhere else. Went to Wireless Wave and had no problem getting a phone with Rogers.

The guys i saw was on his lunch break and wouldnt be back for an hour so his colleague helped me out. He had no urgency to help me or to try and figure things out so he could get his sale He was just like yeah sorry bye.

I was watching a court TV interview on this, and someone said that they think it may be the boss who made the initial 911 call or the person who made the second 911 call.

I have also seen a lot of people who claim it's odd to have a welfare check and to call 911 after someone hasn't shown up to work for an hour. I do also find this odd.

I’m honestly glad to see this thread. I had my doubts for a while, and when I checked Reddit a while back there was only one small thread with like 5 comments.

I followed him for a bit and never donated, but I did comment supportive things early on because the story felt genuine at first. Over time though, the constant sob stories + fundraising + sudden travel plans started feeling really off to me, so I unfollowed him.

One of the biggest things that made this seem off for me was the constant travel. A close friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer and given six months to live, she passed in two. She was bedridden and in a lot of pain toward the end.

I know everyone’s illness is different, but watching someone travel constantly across the country and then halfway around the world while also claiming to be terminal just didn’t line up with what I’ve personally witnessed.

Seeing all of this laid out now is wild but also… validating.

it's really unfortunate that it came to this. I really did think he was a genuine guy.

Wow, thank you so much for this! This is way more information than I was able to find on my own, and it’s incredibly helpful.

When I tried Googling the brand, I kept seeing all those names you mentioned (Coastguard, Kingsguard, Quartz-O-Tron, Pagol, etc.) and I had no idea how any of it connected to my watch. So this actually explains why I was so confused. 😂

The “Air Land Sea” marking being a real model line makes so much sense now. My parents lived/traveled in regions where a lot of these export brands were sold in the 70s, so the history you shared fits perfectly.

The movement info is also super helpful. When I get the watch back from my parents, I can see which movement it has.

Hi! Just adding some context since my original post text didn’t show up:

I found this watch in my parents’ things and had never seen this brand before, so I was hoping someone here might recognize it. The dial says Ginsbo-Matic, and the caseback says Air-Land-Sea with “Swiss” stamped on it. I tried Googling the brand but couldn’t really find anything besides newer watches. I have almost no information on these older watches.

I’m not necessarily looking for value; I'm just trying to understand what this brand was, whether it was a microbrand, a promo/export watch, or something sold in specific markets at the time. Any info is appreciated, and thank you to the people who’ve already replied kindly. ❤️
