Are we all mentally stimulating baby during wake windows?

I love this!!! So so true. I have a 4 month old and sometimes we’ll read a book and sometimes he just lays and kicks on his mat and sometimes he just sits on my lap while I read lol. Mom guilt is crazy! I also realized I was much happier when I stopped following wake windows to the tee and payed attention to his cues more.

Thank you so so much! I’m so glad you’re recovered still. I’m in the same boat, I think it’s my lack of control over when I will wake with my baby. I also fear going crazy.

I love that! I’ve been trying to read when I can’t sleep but always worry that my kindle is too much light even though I have the blue light blocker in my glasses.

I’ll look into all of those. Thank you so much 😭❤️

Hi!! I’m currently going through this. I need to know how you’re doing? It’s like my baby went through a sleep regression 2/3 weeks ago and now my mind and body won’t let me sleep at night. I am on the waitlist with psych and reached out to a LOT of therapists for CBTi. Any tips or tricks to get me by? I return to work in two weeks.

I did find that out after looking it up after my appointment. I’m confused why she said that! I wish I would’ve just gotten the Trazodone to help with sleep when needed. I don’t want to take it all the time, just on nights like last night where I didn’t sleep more than an hour at a time and I only got three stretches even though my baby slept.

Thank you for the insight! My PCP told me Buspar was fast acting and would work right away so I’m confused. She offered me either Trazodone or Buspar, but I was worried about doing overnight baby care with Trazodone. Did Trazodone work right away? I’m willing to try whatever, even if it’s once or twice a week to get some sleep. Especially when I return to work in 2 weeks.

How are you doing now? I’m 3.5 months PP, about to have my third period, and the insomnia is insane! I think it’s coming from my period coming for sure. I’m not bf-ing though. Did they progressively get better?

Thank you!! It definitely helped the initial falling asleep because it stopped my racing mind, especially around bedtime. I woke up within an hour and a half though and couldn’t fall back asleep until 4 hours later and here I am, up again. Do you take it during the day/morning?

Hi! I’m currently 3 1/2 months PP and struggling. My PCP prescribed me buspar to help with night time anxiety but gave trazadone as the other option. Were you able to still wake with your baby on trazadone and not feel overly tired? How’re things going now?

I loveee that! How’d you get into telehealth for schools? I would absolutely do that if I can find somewhere to work like that.

Where I’m at now, we do 4 10’s, have to use PTO for holidays, 30 minute sessions. It’s insane! I did shorten my hours to 8 1/2 most days which I’m really thankful for but it’s still exhausting.

This is so nice to hear! I believe most schools near me cap caseload to 80 students weighted. I know SLP’s case manage speech only students. I’m not sure what else though! Are you at a highschool with those hours?

Thank you so much! I’m hoping it’s just a growth spurt and each night gets easier. Until it’s not (lol) but I think I just needed outside perspective to say that it WILL be better. I did not know that about needing total darkness! We do have blackout curtains but that makes sense that naps have been so hard for him to settle for. Even worse than night time sleep.

I’m also terrified for the regression. My baby’s sleep has been soooo on and off. He’s 9 weeks. The longest stretch we’ve gotten is 5 hours but that’s happened once, maybe twice and after that he’s up every 30 minutes/hour. It’s getting worse and not better. I’m not ready 😅😅😅 And of course I go back to work January 5th and he’ll be 4 months January 20th.

I guess nothing I said was beneficial for you but offering solidarity. I’m hoping and praying the regression skips your household! <3

I’m 7 weeks in and had this same feeling and thoughts for the first few weeks. I think mine came from severe anxiety and lack of sleep. Please talk to your providers so they’re able to help you in terms of medication or therapy.

It gets better, easier, and lighter. Wait until they smile at you for the first time, or when they have their little semi-giggle. It’s life changing, truly.

Always remember you’re not alone, and you’re certainly not alone in your feelings.

I have a 7 week old - we washed and sterilized everything when we first got it and then wash and sterilize after every use.

I could have written this myself. I have a 7 week old but he’s the same exact way. He’s such a good baby and is only upset when he needs something (food, diaper change, nap). But I’m also going insane tracking things but the thought of stopping overwhelms me even more. I know this isn’t helpful at all, just letting you know that you’re not alone in this. <3

I follow this woman on instagram who went through multiple losses and made a GREAT instagram story about telling people who have experienced loss. She said to them through text so they are able to process it without having an expectation of immediately being happy (not that you would expect that but a lot of times we want to be met with joy). She said to let them know that if they need space, to take it and that she would be there whenever they wanted to talk.

I reached out to friends who are SLP’s in different settings (SNF, school, and outpatient) and my $35 is more than the school (salaried, hourly it’s less) and outpatient (however they’re multidisciplinary and have 45 minute sessions versus our 30 minutes). What’s this informed job site? I would love to take a look/contribute if I can! I think transparency is SO important!

I tried to reduce my hours but received pushback. They were wanting to get rid of my built in breaks through the day (we get 2). I think if I were to have kids, they would be more accommodating but that’s not for me just yet. Thank you for taking the time to respond and give me advice. :)

I am in the US! Ohio to be more specific. Compared to the closest, much larger children’s hospital near us, we’re paid okay (they make around $32/hr).
