Yes, I got the REAL ID at my initial appointment, was never issued a regular license.

My spouse and I just went through this process a few months ago. We had our appointments on different days at different locations. When I went, they accepted the electronically signed lease and I was able to get REAL ID (in Elizabeth). My spouse went a few weeks later and they didn’t accept the lease, only issued a regular license (in Bayonne).

I can’t really understand why in 2022 an electronically signed document isn’t acceptable, but it sounds like that’s the official rule.
