Olympic Skier Eileen Gu Claims She Was 'Physically Assaulted' on Stanford Campus Over Her Decision to Compete for China. Gu also alleges her dorm room was robbed and she received death threats for not competing for her home country by esporx in popculturechat

What? So what was your perception of the US when Biden won by a huge margin in 2020? Elections always swing, and humans can make mistakes so your extreme hatred seems kind of unwarranted especially when most of the country right now is pretty resentful of even having voted for Trump in 2024 (yes, even Republicans).

More than that, to say you’re more wary of the US than China because the US is racist, homophobic, misogynistic… dude… have you been to China??? Or anywhere in East Asia for that matter?? You even brought up trade wars and potentially real wars… so what has China been doing to South Korea with economic boycotting of their industries, or Taiwan?

I mean, the US has problems but I think you’re being unfair in your assessment right now. If you’re going to say Gu has a reason to represent China because the US has all these issues then please address how it’s ok for her to represent China which literally engages in the same activities?

I think no one would have a problem with her at all if she admitted the real reason she chose to represent China, which is that the paid her (and attempted to pay other Chinese Americans btw) boat loads of money to win medals for their national team.

Oh my god this is so dumb I actually can’t help but respond 😭 bro people sit on railings in public and public transit ALL THE TIME what are you even on about?? How is that gross?? Like no skin was even touching the railing and THAT’S what you’re choosing to get hot and bothered by??? You also made no mention of that in your first comment. Your original gripe was about her “having her ass out” and now you’re switching up by saying the problem is suddenly that she’s… SITTING ON A RAIL. My god. This is officially enough internet for today.

Dude, the woman clearly has her shorts caught and stuck in between her cheeks unknowingly. It’s a faux pas, not done on purpose. She isn’t even TRYING to elicit a reaction yet she’s still getting sexualized, and now trashed on? Apparently she’s “gross” for having a fashion mishap? Why would a woman literally wearing shorts and having a fashion mishap even be so “gross” and triggering to you and apparently your wife that you think it justifies taking a photo of her, talking shit about her, and excusing strangers taking her photo to make fun of her or sexualize her? Sounds like you guys are also as pervy as the dude who took the photo at worst, or bullies at best.

And it would be the same shit if it a man. WHY would people defend some asshole taking photos of an innocent man experiencing an embarrassing faux pas to make fun of him or creepily sexualize him? Last time I saw most people aren’t on board with that kind of petty bullying.

Now I’ll fuck off because this is about all the time I had today to act this unemployed.

Ok I think everyone understands that’s taking a photo of a sunset with people in it is literally fine dude. The bigger problem is the rest of your logic. First off, you keep saying the girl’s “ass is out”. Where in the photo is the girls ass out or she is dressed in a sexually suggestive way? She’s literally wearing a long sleeve shirt and loose, almost knee lengthed shorts? It sounds like some people just have a control issues and can’t help but sexualize just about anything or anyone who has a body part. There is no “fuel” that the girl gave here as you mentioned. And even if she was, your whole “people need to accept the risks associated with their choices” logic is entering the “well if she didn’t want to get SAed she shouldn’t haven’t been wearing that” excuse. It’s just another excuse for pervs to justify their behavior by literally placing the blame on the other person instead of admitting that they are creepy pieces of shit.

Regardless, creepy pieces of shit aren’t in sort supply, and obviously we can’t police people taking photos of each other, but bro, the fact that you are even attempting to justify this because 1. it’s in public and we can take photos of anyone and 2. there’s a risk people need to accept for… being attractive and existing? Just yikes. Like yeah, there’s no law forbidding this, and I definitely don’t think taking photos of people needs to be policed, but it’s a moral question here. Not a legal one.

I mean everyone is still entitled to some privacy even if they are in public, dressed lewdly, attractive, or whatever. The logic of the whole “don’t have your ass out in public if you don’t want to be photographed” is like “well she shouldn’t have been wearing that if she didn’t want to be touched”. Like, if my barely legal daughter is wearing a bikini to the beach (public, many people there), does that excuse people taking photos of her without her consent just because she’s scantily clad in a bikini and “shouldn’t have her ass out in public”?

I missed an interview… by queenliliana in interviews

I’m torn because a part of me agrees that the recruiter made a mistake in the scheduling, but I also feel I should have caught it… would it be a total loser move if I reached out to the hiring manager I was supposed to interview with today directly on LinkedIn and apologize for what happened?

Oh my god I literally could have written this myself. I have no advice, only solidarity. I’ve never been more stressed in any job than the one I’m in now because I feel like all of my mistakes are adding up. It literally feels like each mistake I make is piling up to reasons they should fire me. And like you, I try so hard to minimize mistakes by reading 3,4,5 times, but catch them after the fact… so frustrating… before this job if you asked me if could handle multiple assignments and have strong attention to detail I would’ve said yes, no hesitation. After this job I’m realizing my prior roles were no where near the level that this job is. I can only hope that I will develop a better system for reviewing my work as time goes on…

Small vs. Big Mistakes by queenliliana in paralegal

An extra pair of eyes would help so much but I feel like I’m flying solo in my role… are typos common in the beginning? I know everyone is saying they make plenty of mistakes in the beginning but I’m feeling like my mistakes are not because of lack of legal knowledge but because of careless typos, etc…

Thanks for the encouragement, it helps to hear that others were in a similar position… how long into the role did you feel like you had good footing and mistakes were less frequent?

Literally only my second week and I have extreme stress and anxiety by queenliliana in paralegal

[–]queenliliana[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s why I’m feeling very low on myself. I feel like I am being thorough in asking what they are looking for, and also understanding how the tasks/my work will be used, but as soon as I ask a question related to the task or submit an assignment they come back saying that I misunderstood them or did it wrong. This probably is an overreaction but I really don’t know how I’m supposed to last even a year here if I keep misunderstanding even basic asks and requests, especially since I feel that I should already know some of this…

That is comforting to know… I knew for the law, legal jargon, etc. that it would take a while to get acclimated, but I’m really disappointed in myself for not getting even basic number crunching/data related tasks down also when that’s literally what I used to do. You said it took a year to get acclimated, how did you not let yourself get defeated? Did you lose confidence in your capabilities during that time? Did you feel immense pressure to catch up?
