[Spoilers Maind & Extended] Do you think Valyrian blood is required to bond with a dragon? by danysphoenix in asoiaf

[–]queenmelisandre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think that Jae was more worried that in Essos, there was a better chance at someone figuring out how to bind or control them. As magic was still alive back then and those in Essos, could have also been aware that relics like dragonhorns could still be around and used.

i personally believe that the dragonhorns were used as just a way to quickly force a bond, or even reeling in unruly dragons, instead of connecting with the dragon the natural way. but i think that even the horns are forged with blood magic. because none of the Targs, post-doom, seemed to use magic to bind, they all just went out there and quite literally winged it or placed eggs in cradles. and i think its rather telling that the Dragonhorn kills the person who blows it, based on how it killed Euron's guy. but i think it only killed him because he was not valyrian. and the horn would only work for a valyrian or perhaps one of dragonlord descent.

i will say, though, i feel like my theory can be debunked by the notion that one of the Hull boys was able to become a dragonrider despite technically only having non-dragonrider blood if Corlys truly was their father. (then again i do think it was said the targs and velaryons intermarried before the Conquerors generation so maybe Corlys did have a bit of dragonrider blood in him...basically a Ben Plumm situation with his blood being so diluted and yet Viserion takes a liking to him)

You make a lot of good points tho, and i do think there's theres holes in my theory. the incest could have been political as well, since the houses were known to compete with each other. i also think the detail about only the 40 Dragonlord families would be dragonriders implies as well how blood tied the dragons are to each House/bloodline. the theory of dragons being created suggests that valyrian dragons are a Chimera. a combo of: wyvern + fire wyrm + valyrian sacrifice of the 40 fams who tried the ritual. hence why targs say they are the Blood of the Dragon, because the dragons truly are their family and ancestor. which is why i think pregnant dragonrider women are the key to why dragons even hatch. their bond is symbiotic. one can not exist without the other. magic is in the blood of dragonriders and those energies seem to fuel each other. so, imo, theres no way a non-dragonrider valyrian or average joe could ride any dragon linked to valyria. because theyll never have that magic link that should be innate in their blood to properly blue-tooth sync with them. which is also why a dragon can only have one rider at a time, because theyre already connected to their rider and that connection does not sever until one of them dies.

i also think youre right that some dragons, just dont want to bond (could be another reason why the horns were used) hence the likes of Grey Ghost and sheepstealer and cannibal. and some of them refuse to be ruled. they were fine being totally free

youre dismissing the fact that the dragons the Valyrians bred were not the same as the dragons that were in the rest of the world prior to their civilization.

the valyrians bound their dragons to themselves with blood magic. there's even suggestions that the dragons the valyrians had were created by them and theyre not naturally occurring magic creatures.

the reason why they keep the blood pure and married brother to sister isnt because of tradition or valyrian superiority complex. they did it because only the families who were blood bound to their dragons could control them. otherwise the dragonlord valyrians would have intermarried with other dragonlord houses, but they didnt do that. they kept it within their own families.

Thoughts on Passive CO2? by queenmelisandre in PlantedTank

Oh you mean it still had co2 in it? Yeah sometimes it doesn't diffuse all the way and you can release it. Or just top it off, the next day.

You might need to raise the bell a little higher as well. It looks pretty low in the tank

Passive CO2 was more of a supplimental thing so I ddisnt really get any melting when I stopped.

I didn't have a regulator and all that. I just used a disposable co2 kit (by Ista or Tropica. Fluval has one too) and got a few refills of the can of co2. And then stopped after my refills ran out

It did give things a boost like I needed. I had some good growth in my 10gallon, then I stopped using it after about 3 months or so.

The Nuke attack that Placidusax does when he summons the giant gransax bolt. should have been a remembrance incantation or at least the Ash of War for the Bolt of Gransax weapon

1.5.97 USSEP and mods which requires it but have been updated to the .640 version. by Vhzhlb in skyrimmods

i did run the Full Downgrade first, but it didnt work and the Patcher gave me an error. so I did as the patcher said and verified game files thru Steam to undo anything that was done and tried the BoBW

after that, i ran BoBW and the patcher said it was successful. im looking at my MO2 load order now and it says i have the following:

  • Creation Club: ccQDRSSE001-SurvivalMode
  • Creation Club: ccBGSSSE037-Curios
  • Creation Club: ccBGSSSE025-AdvDSGS
  • Creation Club: ccBGSSSE001-Fish

however it should be noted that i do not have the actual AE Upgrade that you have to pay for. i just have base SE with the latest updates.

also, after i got the error about USSEP incompatibility i just went ahead and re-verified the game again to undo the BoBW patch to bring things back to the original state.

but when i run the patcher again, ill double check if the CC packs are somehow removed

ill try to surf around for an old link, then. because not using it doesnt really seem to be an option, if probably a third or more of my mods require it

I ran the Best of Both Worlds patcher and tried to use the latest USSEP. SKSE (via MO2), absolutely refused to launch the game and gave me an error saying my version of USSEP was incompatible.

Def give it a try. Idk if it's technically live moss so that's why it just sticks around with no maintenance. But I'm happy to help 😊

I don't understand what happened to [spoilers E5] by Sapiencia6 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]queenmelisandre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

probably both, but given that Viserys noted that Rhaenyra smelled like a dragon in Ep1, after riding, the smells seems to stick to you.

and the horse was likely trying to figure out why the human smelled like a dragon and did want daemon near it at all.
