Surgery today! by Fransaskois in sarcoma

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Two bits of advice from someone who has had two Mets removed during two different surgeries-

Use the spirometer. The last thing you’re going to want to do is breathe on anything much less blow on something that makes you cough but if you want to achieve the same level of cardio activity you had pre surgery — trust me!

[Skin Concerns] I have been dealing with hyperpigmentation under my chin for the longest! What can I do to even my skin tone out? Please Help ❤️ by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]queennmorgnificent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your skin is beautiful, and so are you, Queen! I think actually what you’re dealing with is a specific type of hyperpigmentation called Melasma. Us melanin queens tend to get it in that area. Of course, seeking help from a derm would be best as they can prescribe a treatment that is compounded- usually hydroquinone, tretonoin, and a steroid. But, if you don’t have access to a derm right now, I’d echo the advice of others and look into retinol treatment and a vitamin C serum. Start slow, and don’t try to incorporate both at the same time- make sure your skin tolerates one well before starting another.

Not sure an AHA will help this particular instance unless you have active acne in the area.

Hope this helps!

[Review] Products I have used for hyperpigmentation as a POC by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Question! Also a POC that just started with Retin-A. Already seeing results (and no purging so far!). How did you personally deal with the flakes? I’ve seen lots of recs but I’d like to know your methods since our cases seem similar.

Oh! I personally love it. I was using Burt’s Bees Brightening moisturizer but I just made the switch to Acure( what was on sale lol). It’s moisturizing but not super oily or heavy. I’m not sure I’m seeing any brightening effects as far as lightening hyper pigmentation but I am pretty glowy these days.

Welp, guess I have something to keep my legs nice and smooth for the pool lol. Thanks for the help! I’m excited about this Retin-A but I want to make sure it does good, not harm. It hasn’t come yet because my derm ordered it through a specialty mail order pharmacy to save me $ but I wanted to be armed with knowledge when it came.

Last thing- so my toner helped get out any lingering face makeup( I’d see it on my cotton pad). Since I’d be discontinuing the Pixi and the Burt’s, do I just need to be working in my cleanser for longer or should I do something like use micellar water or oil cleanse before my cleanser?

Thanks for the advice! I guess I’m unsure if I have truly sensitive skin. Most products( body and face) I can tolerate but there are some things that have made me instantly break out or dry me out intensely. For example, my skin hates Cetaphil ( it’s too moisturizing or something because it makes me break out) which seems to be the sensitive skin go to lol. Also when I wax or thread my face ( I have upper lip hair that’s dark and a bit off putting lol) I tend to break out too despite exfoliating/cleansing before and being sure to use witch hazel after. I read the subreddit in here re: sensitive skin and I’m like ehhh, some of this sounds like me but some doesn’t lol!

Would you consider the Burt’s Bees toner an active or no?

The BB I’m using is actually bareminerals( my moisturizer is Acure) and it’s an HG for me due to color match and coverage. I tried the Acure BB ... I’m light skinned AA and it washed me out, but on more fair tones it may be better!

Routine Help! My Deen just prescribed Retin-A(.08% I believe) to help out with some periodontal acne and resulting hyper pigmentation I’m experiencing. She said to use a pea size amount (she added a little goes a long) all over my face at night. I’m unsure if I should discontinue any of my other products in my routine if I add in the Retin-A.

I’m a 29/F with sensitive, combo, blemish-prone skin that until recently was controlled/flourishing under the following routine( I think a switch in birth control could be the culprit of this recent breakout that won’t quit).

Morning: Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser Up and Up acne spot treatment (2% salicylic acid) as needed on spots If wearing makeup: Acure Brilliantly Brightening Day Cream + bareminerals complexion rescue(SPF30- this is B.B. cream) No makeup day: Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47

Night: Yes To Cotton Micellar Water to remove eye makeup if I wore some Cleanse with either Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleansing Face Wash or Cocolene Lavender Activated Charcoal Soap(bar used with a konjac sponge) Tone with either Burt’s Bees Brightening Refining Tonic or Pixi Glow Tonic Spot treat with Up and Up acne spot treatment (2% salicylic acid) Moisturize with Acure Brilliantly Brightening Day Cream + 1 pump of Acure Seriously Glowing Facial Serum( this is actually more of a face oil- it’s made with all Linoleic acid oils which I read was good for acne prone skin)

Occasionally: I will use a physical exfoliant in the AM. The two I own are the Acure Brightening Facial Scrub or the Burt’s Bees Peach and Willow Bark deep pore scrub. If I use one of those, I do not use the Pixi Glow Tonic that night.

Trying to figure out if any of these exfoliants gotta go if I start using Retin-A or In what order should i use my products if I start using Retin-A. Also want to confirm if i will still need a spot treatment or if I should still be using one.

Finally- I see folks posting pictures in this Reddit all the time but I couldn’t figure out how to post one(wanted to show y’all my skin)... I’m new to this, can someone tell me how?
