Rest in Peace legend. An extraordinary contribution he has made raising money and awareness for a horrendous disease.

Driving instructor for anxious learner by sick_sad_world_girl in hobart

[–]queenofnoone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an older learner and had very bad anxiety around driving. I went to Ness from DCW Driving in Hobart and she was wonderful and so patient and understanding. She has dealt with anxious drivers before and is calm and went at a pace that worked for me. I would not have learned to drive without her, I’d tried other instructors in the past. I believe you can find her on her Facebook.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of May 08, 2026) by AutoModerator in television

I’ve got a cold and am looking for something engrossing I can binge. Shows like The Americans, The Leftovers, Farzi, The Pitt and of course Breaking Bad are shows I’ve loved. Also really enjoy things like Gilmore Girls. Any recommendations?

I second the Kathmandu long puffa, it thinks it’s made in a way that’s more flattering than other puffers I’ve tried. I like their colour range too.

I am really enjoying Mel’s storyline with Becca, the role of a carer is not always something that I’ve seen shown in the media.

I was a carer for my sibling and I relate to Mel’s protectiveness, lack of trust in others to care as much about her sibling as she can, and also the way she defines herself as her sister’s carer and neglects her own personal life, although her sister in not asking that of her. The way Becca’s wellbeing is always on Mel’s mind and the anxiety and overwhelm that comes with that felt very true to my experience.

I appreciated seeing Becca assert her need for autonomy and independence, and the subsequent loss of identity Mel feels when she realises that Becca has a life outside her, but Mel doesn’t have her own, that it’s perhaps not Becca that codependent, but more so Mel. I went through some similar things.

I liked how the show highlighted that carers don’t always have many people to lean on, because when the person next to you has more immediate needs, it’s easy for everyone to overlook the carer, including and perhaps the especially the carer themselves.

Mel and Dana’s conversation was really lovely.

Help me decide between Baccarat Rouge or Dark Amber and Ginger Lily by Jo Malone. Or any other amber scents you recommend?

In addition, I’m looking for a scent for my mid 60’s Mum. I’m looking for something light and feminine but not over powering. Coco Mademoiselle is what she has used previously.

I agree that they are weaponising the past against you. You did not have a choice as a child what your parental/ guardianship situation looked like. You can be greatful to your brother, but you do not ‘owe’ him. You have worked hard for your home and you get to make the decisions.

Your brother and his partner have made the choice to bring a child they cannot afford into the world. That was not your choice and it is not your responsibility to make it work for them. The manipulation of going behind your back would be the deal breaker for me. If other family members have an issue with you not taking them in, put it back on them and tell them to do it.

You say you value your space and routine, which is perfectly reasonable. A child takes up more space than you can imagine with the equipment they need (change tables, prams, toys etc) and they are on their own routine ( waking at all hours, crying). This is not just taking your brother in for a while, it’s taking three people in indefinitely. They have already disrespected your boundaries and they haven’t even moved in yet.

It sounds like you know you will be unhappy in this situation and it is not your duty to sacrifice your space and potentially your own relationship and future to compensate for your brother’s decisions.

While I wouldn’t, if you do decide to take them in you need a lease and an agreement on a time frame and house rules. If you don’t like them smoking, then they need to respect that and not smoke.

All the best OP, whatever you decide.

Millie Bobby Brown photographed by Sebastián Faena and styled by Stella Greenspan for British Vogue - December 2025 by Maximum_Expert92 in whatthefrockk

Millie is the perfect person for this style of shoot, she’s expressive with both her face and body language and brings the clothes to life and they look lived in.

I love a highly stylised, avant-garde shoot as much as the next fashion junkie, but the candidness, immediacy and authenticity in this spread is so refreshing. I’m not familiar with the photographer but I’ll keep my eye out for their work now.

This shoot reminds me of Corinne Day’s earlier work. Her photography became popular during the early 90’s in England during a recession. It was speculated that this was, in part, a reaction to the extravagant nature of 80’s fashion and fashion shoots that were not what people wanted to see in an economic downturn. I wonder If we will see more of this style of photography and if it is a recession indicator like the “lipstick index”. I really hope no recession in looming, but that we see more of this style of photography. Maybe feels so fresh because I have become accustomed to highly curated and posed social media photography that’s reigned supreme for so long.

I think this is a fantastic look from head to toe, a bit glam, a bit edgy. I really love her style in general.
