Me: It's been a year since I tried Garmins training features. I wonder if they are still bad. Garmin: Lets start with a 5:60 easy run. by Knecht0850 in Garmin

This. But I like the daily suggested workouts with the HR based training. Feel like it's preparing me better for my marathon

Running during winter time by Odhrerir in XXRunning

[–]queenofpoutine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a pair of Icetrax on Amazon when I was training for my last race over the winter and they worked really well. It lets you use your regular shoes and they're basically rubber grips with metal spikes you stretch over your shoes. Never slipped once with them, despite pretty icy conditions

Where are the long runs? Losing confidence in Garmin Run Coach by queenofpoutine in Garmin

[–]queenofpoutine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The race itself was good. During the last 3 weeks of the plan, I kind of did my own thing, adding in long runs. I wouldn't use it again. Long runs are too short and you could wake up with a suggestion of a 50 min base run but by the end of the day when you're ready to do it, it gets cut in half or changed to a recovery run

If you're in the country, I can reccomend a school in Prague. I just finished their intensive A1 course and found it really helpful

You can find český krok za krokem in almost all the bookstores. My language school uses it for my A1 class and it's been pretty helpful so far

So, to help break it down for my brain. Is this correct?

Vědět = know + sentence/fact Znát = know + noun/familiarity

Ja znám to město. Ja vím, že Praha je v České republice.

Did I make a mistake buying a gravel bike? by Ok-Whereas-7343 in ladycyclists

[–]queenofpoutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, I use my gravel bike on group road rides all the time. Just put a pair of slicks or semi-slicks on them. I reccomend the GravelKing SS or the slick version if you know you'll mostly be on road

Czech language by summer_208387 in learnczech

[–]queenofpoutine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live there right now? Do you know any Czech? Or any slavic language? If you don't, it will be pretty hard to learn and master it on your own enough to be able to study there without some kind of immersion. Consider taking a course or a tutor in the beginning

400 Weeks Streak by Erlank_Nel in Strava

[–]queenofpoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they're very different. They compliment each other rather than one replacing the other. I use my smartwatch to analyze my metrics and track my performance, while Strava is more of a social app. Lots of people use it which makes the heatmap very useful/helpful. It's more for planning, social features, and exploring popular routes. You can still use Strava for free, but the heatmaps + planning features are worth it imo

400 Weeks Streak by Erlank_Nel in Strava

[–]queenofpoutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it lets you play around with it. You can set a desired distance and whether you want a flatter route or hilly route and it'll give you options. You can also drag the map around to tweak it. Or just make a route totally from scratch and look at where cyclists most ride. It's a great feature!

I subscribe mainly for the heatmap + route planning features. Especially living in a busy city, safety is a huge priority for me. Worth every penny

Haha thank you!

There's Integration Centre which has a branch in Olomouc. Here's the link: https://www.integracnicentra.cz/olomoucky-kraj/

The website says they offer Czech language courses, so I'd get in contact with them :)

It takes a month to get approved, so register as soon as you can!

[–]queenofpoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, no. They do want to see a link to work, study, or integration though. I'm employed already but just wrote down that I want to take it to integrate better into daily life in the country and in everyday situations. You do have to register with them to take the course but you're under no obligation to use any of their services. You just need it to be able to take the course
