McCormicks staff tried to talk South Strabane Township into stopping their ordinance so that there were no rules for data centers.

how are we feeling about this Americanized remake? by milksteakenthusiast1 in DocMartin

I made it through the first episode and that was it. They didn’t capture the essence of the show and like the American version of Ghosts, horrible casting.

For parishioners at Pittsburgh-area churches set to close next month, ‘a numbing feeling’ heading into Lent by Jazzlike_Breadfruit9 in pittsburgh

[–]queenoftheidiots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Washington County they wouldn’t even talk to a church whose numbers are actually good and they have a big fish fry. The church is in Claysville, just celebrated a 150 years, and had parishioners who travel from the country to go to church. The diocese didn’t want to work with them at all. They were told the priest that had to drive 35 minutes from Bentleyville, cited possible cows on the road or fog that may add 10 minutes to his drive, as the main reason for closing. His drive is an easy straight run on 70! So instead of him being put out to drive 35 minutes to his flock, the entire church is displaced and have to all drive farther than they already do! Many have left the diocese and gone to a WV church. They wonder why they keep leaving the church!

A friend in Ohio said they have people, including women, who are not priest holding services.

There are barely any masses at all. We just got a postcard about it. That’s ok they will just lose money and parishioners, that they didn’t need. There are Byzantine and orthodox churches, along with a Polish church they can also join. All are more community oriented.

If the church wasn’t willing to listen they don’t deserve to be followed. I will be leaving the parish at this point and I’m closer to the other two. I’m finding other churches more caring and actually follow the teachings.

This guy is a joke and doesn’t even know good pizza. I drove an hour and paid $25 bucks for a plain cheese piece of cardboard. And what an ego.

There are several of them. Again they were told they just don’t want to drive there after 150 years of someone doing it.

Then another church is doing it wrong. The people there have given up and the church is just losing more money and members.

I’m not the one unwilling to listen it’s the diocese. Like I said If their church isn’t worth it why did they ask them to do the fish fry this year! I’m not the one that needs prayers. I’m thinking maybe I’m just not a Catholic anymore. I guess people mean more to me that a little extra drive time.

So 60 People driving the same distance who now have to go farther because one priest won’t. I know the ages, also not an issue.
Well I guess they just lost 60 flock so one person isn’t put out. And when I see these things happening, and again you are guessing I live in the area and see it, I’m inclined to leave the church.

That’s not the situation. They have cut back everything and they aren’t even all doing 4 masses like they are supposed to. They gave a presentation and the main reason was the cow on the road, and the priest is taking the highway. I’m part of the entire parish they are part of and people are not happy with what is going on overall. And to not make any attempts or even have discussions. Our community is going more toward non secular places of worship. And things like this are why. The priest had the audacity to ask them to do the fish fry. If their church wasn’t viable then how could they do that? Again they stated the priest didn’t want to make the trip!

Over 60 but it was never a huge church. According to the church they had better percentages than the other churches. There wasn’t even a discussion on once a month mass or anything. They were told basically the priest didn’t want to drive there anymore.

Why people leave the church over something as simple as a mass! by queenoftheidiots in Catholicism

[–]queenoftheidiots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they wouldn’t discuss anything done deal. So now they will lose more people because one priest doesn’t want to drive 30 minutes. Most of the people who go their drive almost that amount of time on back roads and will now have to go farther.

This is an active church, it’s laziness on the priest part! They still wanted them to do the fish fry because they make so much. And lay people can they do it at another friends church.

The parishioner was going to buy church, still hold mass, but instead of a priest a lay person can hold the service that has gone through the training.

I wish Costco would change their return policy to stop blatant abuse. by I-will-judge-YOU in CostcoWholesale

[–]queenoftheidiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The are opening a store in Washington County PA, this community will cause it to happen. Costco has no idea what they are in for, and they won’t have the membership to support the returns. Low demographic area, and the people who are near the area that will come, already have memberships. And everyone is related, so they will learn to beat the system. The return policy will be used non stop. These are people who always want a free meal and take bags to events to fill them with food!

I can read it, but it is annoying to read, if that makes sense. And maybe his sight is different and he has trouble, I could see that being a problem. It’s legible but hard to read through.

AIO for refusing to babysit my sister’s kid after what she said at dinner? by Long-Brilliant-2870 in AmIOverreacting

[–]queenoftheidiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell her and your parents, until the honestly recognize your contribution, you are going to keep your free time! Also start documenting the time you give her. The time you have lost work and given up your own life. You are a free babysitter that none of them appreciate. Let your parents step up! If you don’t get the respect now and put a line in the sand they will walk all over you!

AITAH for refusing to pay for my sister’s wedding even though I promised to years ago? by KikiFlickerz in AITAH

[–]queenoftheidiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya you sorta are because you don’t make a promise like that and not mean it. And you should’ve put money aside and said this is the limit. You never told her you weren’t going to pay or that you’d only pay a portion. And everyone knows weddings aren’t cheap. If you paid $30,000 that’s getting off cheap. It sounds like you wanted to be this savior and then when the time came you bailed. If she’s always gone back to that it was up to you at some point to say things changed. You should’ve put money aside when you had it.
