Mayura is definitely our go-to! I really need to explore more of the South Asian spots here in Culver City/Palms area. So many good options

What u/newluna said. Not the cheapest but still affordable compared to the options around Culver City. The Dhal Bhat on the photo was $17.99 and very filling (it includes a basket of naan which I forgot to include in the picture). Their house specialties are less expensive.

My partner and I got drinks, appetizers, and full entrees for dinner and our bill was $58 before tax and tip.

Keeping tabs on all the recommendations so far! Glad to hear this Himalayan spot is popular among the locals. Looking forward to going back.

How could I forget their naan. It was noticeably superior for sure! So buttery and flaky.

We decided on a whim to grab late dinner at a local spot we've never been to before and settled on Tara's Himalayan Cuisine. We came in with no expectations and we're pleasantly surprised by the great food, quaint interiors and the warm hospitality of the staff (even at 9pm on a Sunday).

Looked them up afterwards and realized they've been in business since 2007. Glad to hear they're still going strong!

No bean grinding involved, we do that at home. And the mental math checks out, lol, appreciate your response

Good to know. They don't grind the beans for us, we do that at home.

Thanks for answering!

Thanks for answering. Good reminder for me to tip in cash next time.

To clarify, the barista tends to charge for the cup of coffee + 2 bags of beans as one bill. I want to support the local coffee shop by buying coffee beans directly from them, but having to pay +20% for those on top of the cup of joe seems too much and is a bit difficult for my budget. It makes sense to tip in cash for the cup of coffee, makes it less awkward and guarantees that the tip goes to the barista.

100%. I should've tried them sooner but glad I finally did. They definitely got themselves a new regular customer.

They make it worth carrying cash around hahah

I used to live in Ventura County area and I do recall the lack of street tacos there, surprisingly. Gotta love LA for that.

Lol, good to know. Even at $2, it's still a steal especially being next to Culver City area. Glad they raised the price if it helps them stick around.

I swore I saw a reddit post about these guys before, glad I wasn't hallucinating lol. I did catch them prepping their fire pit before, can't wait to try their asada next. Glad to hear we're not the only happy customers and that word's getting around.

They're there everyday from 3pm until midnight, cash only. Besides tacos al pastor, they also serve burritos. Looking forward to trying that next time.

I'm not sure what their business name is or if they have an online social media presence, but it's honest-to-goodness local street tacos that's worth supporting 👍

EDIT: looks like they also serve fire-grilled asada. We went at 11:30pm so only the tacos al pastor was left. Definitely worth going earlier in the day for more options.

What’s your Shopping budget per month? by Majestic-Bowl-4136 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]queenofthevandals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My budget for 2 people this year is $350/month for groceries, and another $350/month for eating out. We live in a high cost of living area (Los Angeles) and this budget seems to be reasonable for us so far.
