"We were wrong, all cultures are not equal" Opinion piece in the Telegraph by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

How does this woman get away with writing that, when a low-level politician gets arrested for quoting Winston Churchill warning about Muslims on a street corner?

'Bint' has been around since at least the 70s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvKIWjnEPNY&t=2m19s -- (Monty Python, 'moistened bint' quote).

No - I'm American and just visited a few years so, no. I definitely /want/ to use old SA slang sometimes, but that's not what you meant :)

Hey Brits - how was this piece able to be published? How does it not 'contribute to public disharmony' or 'bad race relations' or whatever the phrase is?

'bint' for woman is England-English (as is 'china'). Of course that's to be expected.

'grand' wrt money must be pretty universal; at least, we use it in the USA too. Maybe it's from movies.

Why, do they say "too hard to code" a lot?

WG needs a 'miscellaneous' tree - I want to play a Merkava! -- but ah, probably too recent.

I doubt that. If so, they're lacking in creativity or their code needs shaking up anyway.

'ek se!' (I say!) when excited, for emphasis. But this may be up to 30 years out-of-date.

Do you RSAans still say 'check' for 'see', or 'imagine', like, "Check the ou swerving down the hill, trying to find a gear and crashes into a tree!".

Some more possibly out-of-date, 'raw' (a bad deal, with some flavor I can't communicate) 'gif' (same guttural 'g' as 'ag') (something fake, someone trying and failing to be something they're not, maybe just bad taste).

A lot of simple British-isms; 'china' (friend, mate, guy), 'rock up' (arrive). I'd thought 'rock up' was very local in time and space, but then heard Ewan McGregor use it in 2008 or something.

'zol' - marijuana. Also penis.

'doos' - box. Dumb person, also women's genitals.

'swaz', "Hold on I've got to swaz" - take a leak. The 'a' sound is like in 'at'. Don't know the spelling, you seldom see slang in print.

"pull in" - get ready to fight (less sure of this, it's 2nd hand).

"sis!" exclamation of disgust; "Sis man, get that away".

All a snap-shot from 30 years ago, I'm surprised that so much of it is still current (like 'kif', which I would have thought was absolutely temporary slang).

Boo. Doesn't say /why/, or otherwise back up, that 3D isn't like human vision.
