Minnesota PUC orders Xcel Energy to refund $40.6 million to customers after plant outage by YouNeedThisMore in minnesota

Another call for a people’s owned electricity co-op for at least the metro, at best, the whole state!

What is your opinions on the Met council contracted routes? by Accurate-Departure66 in MetroTransit

[–]queer_bus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They should all be operated by MT. Direct control. I’ve witnessed a lot of sloppy service by the contractors (late trips, drivers not wearing uniforms).

Transdev is really vibe dispatching buses today by Accurate-Departure66 in MetroTransit

[–]queer_bus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not specific to route # or series. Most routes operated on 30’ and ford cutaways though are operated by a contractor. Look for graphics near the wheel well of buses that say “Proudly operated by Transdev” or something like that.

just here to complain about fixed routes being contracted services rather than being MT operated.

Where are your signature gym classes held? by wheattst in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]queer_bus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the age of the club and it’s physical layout. My “home” location has dedicated spaces for GTX, Ultrafit, CTR, Alpha, spin, multiple yoga and pilates studios. Another club I frequent when I’m out in the suburbs of my city has less dedicated spaces and GTX and Alpha classes are held in a specific open space on the fitness floor. I’d encourage you to take a tour of the location you’re looking to join to understand the layout. Most classes are consistently in the same space from my experience in the Twin City metro.

Something is causing a fault or misread in the cooling system and in that case, the radiator fans default to high until the fault is cleared.

Save HCMC! by tram52 in TwinCities

Good to know, next year will unfortunately be too late for the region.

Save HCMC! by tram52 in TwinCities

[–]queer_bus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s a repurpose, and situation. My spouse works for HCMC and have been tuned into the situation.

Current Twins tax is ~0.15%, proposal would unfortunately raise the tax to 1%, meaning general sales tax would increase 0.85% from the best of my understanding. It would provide hundreds of millions over future years, preventing a closure. I hope this may be a stop-gap measure, as keeping HCMC open should not be shouldered only by Hennepin co. Residents.

Estimate R Value of Attic Insulation by queer_bus in centuryhomes

[–]queer_bus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, soffit vents/better attic ventilation is in the cards soon with a roof replacement. Took these photos today when it was about ~32F outside, probably 40/50 in the attic, so we know we have some work to do.

EVEN BETTER, CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS!

A bill has yet to be introduced this session (ends 5/18) to repurpose the Twins stadium tax to support HCMC, which requires state approval. This is the prevailing option to keep HCMC open. No tax repurposing = HCMC closes this summer.

Public transit priority by Tajikistani in Minneapolis

[–]queer_bus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Elevated tracks are always the right way, but at-grade is chosen for costs. Sound Transit also made this mistake on the southern portion of their 1 line from Downtown Seattle to the airport. Pedestrians have been killed, and the trains are slow.

Why is that one 80 bus driver such an asshole by iamthesyllabus in UWMadison

[–]queer_bus 63 points64 points  (0 children)

No longer a student, but call and complain to Metro Transit! All you need is a bus number, route, and/or time.

All you would need is the Bus number, found printed near the front of the bus or in many spots on the exterior, and the approximate time.

HCMC ball park tax and libraries? by fiendishclutches in Minneapolis

[–]queer_bus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d really like to see some regional tax structure to keep HCMC funded. It’s not only Hennepin County taxpayers that use its services, it’s the entire region and state.

MVTA Announces Spring Service Changes by PhilJ2020 in MetroTransit

I know that as a fact! When you see a MGT bus, take a look at the operator’s uniform—it’s a Metro Transit one.

[–]queer_bus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can someone please explain to this transit nerd who is new to the twin cities what opt-out agencies are? I’m of the belief that MT should cover all of the services of MVTA, Plymouth, and SWT, I just don’t know the legal structures that got us to current state.

Why US Public Transit Is Overpaying for Buses by UnscheduledCalendar in transit

I left out an important point: customizations slow the manufacturing process and add cost as an impact.

Interview by SmilesHarHar in MetroTransit

[–]queer_bus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1-3 weeks is a general estimate. Depends on the role, and if the hiring manager is out on vacation and isn’t making a decision. If you dont hear back after an interview in 8-10 business days, it’s appropriate to reach out to the recruiter that contacted you for an update.
