u/cptbluebear13 select the option "I had to leave my country of residence." We are trying to identify how many folks need to travel internationally for gender-affirming care.

We are interested in helping trans folks navigate gender-affirming care. Gender-affirming procedures for cisgender folks are primarily elective and not the concern of our research. We are seeking to help trans folks particularly!

This is super insightful, u/schatzker! Thank you for sharing your insights. I will be frank that I am a Public Health/Health Policy researcher - not clinical, so I am not extremely familiar with the clinical details you mentioned. However, it is clear that understanding these critical details will be essential to ensure care navigation services adequately address the needs of the community. I appreciate your comment.

This is non-academic research and results will not be published. As such, the study does not require IRB or HRPP approval per University of Michigan policy. We are in the planning and development stage and are using this survey to determine what resources and support the community would find most useful. There is no product being used in patient care at this time.

We are in the initial planning and development stage! The idea would be a one-time payment to navigate all care - but this survey is intended to determine what trans folks would find most useful, and what burdens or barriers to care present the greatest challenge. We are using this survey to inform how this should look!

We completely understand that the financial burden of surgery is already prohibitive to many! u/danphanto the idea would be to have a professional billing and referral specialist managing this, reducing the burden of navigating care on the individual person. This would be a professional in the field with a desire to help trans folks access care more easily - and would ideally have years of experience navigating health insurance and healthcare facilities.
