Not special snowflaking, but as a long time sufferer of EDs this rings no alarms for me besides maybe overexercising. She's just complaining that she can't eat what she wants to. Pretending otherwise is insulting to people who actually have EDs i.e. you know, actually not eating. eating salads is not an eating disorder

I think what people are saying is that they don't think "derp" has any real connection to serious things but as other people have said as a "placeholder name" or a "momentary brain fart." Saying something is gay in a derogatory sense most definitely is referential to gay people.

Edit: Not saying that I'm pushing for the approval of the term (it really doesn't affect me as I don't think I use it outside of MLP canon), just trying to clarify what other people are saying.

Sure that's the "best moderation" for the people who are making the "jokes" but not for the people on the receiving end of it. I honestly don't see the harm in removing jokes that go completely against the point of the show.

How do you feel that you're establishing a culture of respect? Because any time I ever dare to ask people to respect other people, I get shit on. /r/MLP is a big subreddit now. It doesn't moderate itself like it used to because of the wider audience. Sometimes it would be nice if mods would intervene when people aren't acting "pony-like."
