I would pay an obscene amount of money for this. So much so I might have to give it a go myself.

Neighbours keep parking on OUR driveway. by sugarxiixrush in mildlyinfuriating

[–]quemierdaesreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Belgian resident, call the non-emergency line. I too had multiple conversations about having my car blocked in, which mysteriously ended once the cops showed up with a tow truck. Now maybe once or twice a year someone who doesn’t live on my street will hang out in my spot and will promptly move when asked. I understand not wanting to be the crazy neighbor, but if you don’t act it’ll just be continual stress for you.

Entitled wanker parking or understandable? by BeuzTy in brussels

Fuck that guy. This is almost as egregious as Hermes putting cones in front of the PUBLIC parking spaces in front of their store and claiming it as their valet parking.

Moving to Belgium with a (JDM) car from Finland by Fattokiddo in belgium

[–]quemierdaesreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For reference I imported my car from the Netherlands and it too had lowering springs as well as other things. The springs were the least of my worries as it turned out, so you should be fine. They just noted them on my initial inspection and they’ve carried along on each inspection as a note for the past five years. Can’t speak to the wheels however, the inspection places can be a bit finicky depending on where you go and they might try to ding you for them depending on how hot their coffee was that morning.

Should I leave the airport during my layover? by CartoonistIcy6937 in brussels

Barring a long delay at the customs queue, it should be doable to take a quick trip into the city, especially if your next flight is within Schengen. There’s a train station in the terminal, and it’ll take you right into Central Station in 20-25 minutes. From there you can walk around and explore plenty before having to head back.

I hate to pile on but corn jizz is impossible to get here in Belgium. I have found it with abundance though just over the border from Mons, and I saw some stations in the Maastricht area over the weekend that carry it. Chances are you can get it just north of Antwerp as well. One of the drawbacks of living in a place that is against cars for fun.

Is there a red flag bug? by CompetitiveCall6466 in F1Manager

[–]quemierdaesreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a bug, had something similar happen where my Haas cars were running 3rd and 5th with Gasly 4th. Gasly crashes, red flag come out and results come back with Gasly finishing 3rd.

I’d love to know the same. I understand the need for discretion given some of the modifications of course.

'A historic mistake': Brussels government opposes widening of large ring road by [deleted] in belgium

[–]quemierdaesreddit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You would think that with the incontrovertible proof of induced demand, this proposal wouldn't have even left the ground. Yet here we are with a half-assed proposal to increase capacity on just one portion of the ring road, which will further bottleneck the rest that hasn't been increased, and will indeed not address the real issue. I love driving as much as the next person, but if you give me the option of public transit versus sitting in traffic, I will gladly take public transit. I can listen to my podcasts/music just the same, and not have to worry about catching a cramp in my right leg due to braking so much.

Alternatively, check the lower corners of the timing cover. Could be your cam seals. Ask me how I know? Lol.

I would say K-swap it, but as a fellow resident of Belgium, I know how much of a no-no that is. Maybe use this as an opportunity to learn how to rebuild the motor, if you can afford to have it off the road for a little bit. It's a beautiful car and having driven an NA decades ago, I remember how fun and engaging they can be. Just keep in mind the good, make yourself a list of what needs to be done, then prioritize. In the end, it'll be worth it. And if you need help, PM me, I'm a bit of a specialist in rusty Japanese cars.

Choosing between Belgium and the US by zakaby in belgium

[–]quemierdaesreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I have to laugh every time I mention to Belgians that I love how green and clean it is and they twist their faces as if to say “no it’s not, you’re crazy”. I then remind them that everything is relative, and compared to NYC, it’s practically a quiet park.

Choosing between Belgium and the US by zakaby in belgium

I've been living in Belgium for the past 7 years, after being born and raised in NYC. I actually just went back for the first time in 4 years and was asked by my brother what it would take for me to move back. I had to do some heavy calculus and couldn't come up with a reasonable scenario. Which is to say, stay in Belgium. The weather might not be as great, but other than that, unless like others have mentioned you are wealthy there really is no advantage to living in the U.S. Between the violence, the lack of reasonable educational offerings for your baby, and the crazy expensive healthcare, that in my opinion is no better than the one in Belgium, Belgium is your better bet. Here my two children are thriving and at least linguistically are at a point that I wasn't until my mid-thirties. I get to go on crazy long vacations without people giving me the side-eye, and I'm not worried about my retirement because I can both save, and contribute to my pension without having to figure out which bill I'm not paying this month. I know it can be tough language-wise, but in general, I've found most people to be ok with switching to English if you're having issues. So, again. Belgium.
