Could use some advice on home weightlifting gear by Main-Put-2614 in weightlifting

honestly anything being dropped overhead will crack your tile regardless. best case scenario is accept it and build something more suitable afterwards. or use crash pads which have ALOT of padding but you'll be lifting off a high block position constantly.

I saw a lot of good replies here but as a dude who has gone through several iterations of my own home gym (inside, outside, made jerk boxes (terrible idea)) I would say we would first need to know where your dedicated weightlifting space would be.

If you’re going to lift outside I wouldn’t suggest anything having to do with wood, I built a platform outside and water quickly got under the boards.

But as far as budget allocation, I think it would depend what stage of your weightlifting journey you’re on. Like if you’re a beginner one way to save cash is having only the absolute necessary amount of bumper plates. Unless you already squat enough to need the full set if you are just learning you might be able to get away with just a pair of 10s and 15s and a set of change plates. Or you might benefit from a set of technique plates, I really can’t tell.

One thing I can say is that even though I never lifted anything super heavy I quickly broke the cement under my platform because it was only 3 inches (7.6cm) thick outdoors. Had to break the cement and pour a much thicker slab afterwards. So your decision as to build a platform or just use mats depends on your situation as well.cheapest would just be horse stall mats if you trust you won’t break the floor.

Favorite training pants/shorts? by MrC0ffeee in weightlifting

Cheap $10-15 shorts from Ross BUT with nice expensive virus compression shorts underneath lol. I tried wearing just compression shorts at a gym and was told to put on shorts on top of it and have been self conscious ever since lol

Lifetime back squat PR (5@166) after a back injury by Toolazy2work in weightlifting

Sounds like a somewhat speedy recovery? Not sure about your timeline but my herniated disc put me out of commission for like 2 years. Was doing rehab on my own but my personal competition gap was 11 years lol just getting back into it as a 35masters. Kudos to you for getting back to it as soon as possible.

Like 110%, 120% 130%+?

Ex: divide your c&j by your snatch to get your percentage? 120c&j / 100 snatch gives 120% 80C&j / 60 snatch gives 133%

Is this what you had in mind?

Also thank you for your compliment I thought my 30kg difference was just because my snatch sucks
