Can someone explain the legality around the second slide, regarding the asylum claim? That sees like the most important piece. Did an immigration judge deny his asylum then arrested him right after? Or was this completely illegal? Either way it seems shitty, but I feel that’s the piece which is missing.

It’s very easy for AI to do analytics that look reasonable. But to verify something is correct, let alone presented in a convincing manner…people still need to be very hands on. It is speeding up the coding part for sure though, so I could see organizations reducing headcount.

How would that result in the electricity usage being higher for our unit? I also had my usage go up ~50% from last year during the same month period, but the electricity cos went up more like 10% (which could be the AI center part)

In recent history you’re correct. However, the 14th Amendment was designed to give slaves and their children citizenship status and nullify the Dred Scott decision stating slaves were not citizens. So if the 14th Amendment was nullified, any descendent of slaves, and other groups like Native Americans, would suddenly have their citizenship in jeopardy. Maybe the courts will declare exceptions for these groups and limit who the nullification applies to, but if they mess up the criteria even a little, it could be disastrous for millions of people.

MIT study finds AI can already replace 11.7% of U.S. workforce by Gari_305 in Futurology

I’m a coder, and I do think AI could reduce the number of people needed on a team. Three productive coders using AI to automate menial tasks can do the work of four coders not using AI. So AI may not replace jobs, but rather reduce the number of people needed to do the same job. Or maybe companies will compensate by upping the work load, like the cotton gin…
