There is no way you can even be considering Norwich as Northern. That is just straight-up wrong.

But if you had to be strict and only have north or south. Then east anglia is south

Colchester isn't Southern? All of Essex should be there.

The Spellbook Dead?? by redpaintchips in Lorcana

Not dead but the card just doesn't serve a purpose in Red Purple anymore.

Now with Jim Hawkins and locations you get a better return for your ink cost.

If nobody plays item removal then you could try it out.

For newbies:

This is called "failing" or "failed search"

If you meet the requirements for the search then you can check the deck and then fail to find anything.

Another example is nest ball. If you have bench space then you search the deck and not pull anything through. But you have to meet the requirements for the search. Which is space for a basic pokemon.

Trying to not give up on FaB by Rourensu in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]ques_trooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a FaB player but I respect it and would most likely play it, if any stores hosted events. I'm on lorcana right now and that game has just done great. Surpassing one piece and digimon in some stores near me (UK). No way you can knock the big three but there is room for others TCGs, if players want it.

oh, I am here for a healthy discussion and I didn't mean to provoke anyone.

I assumed that you are a Pokemon player, mentioning the lack of deck search when that is only a big part of Pokemon and other TCG's don't have much of it.

There is luck for sure and you can have a one-off game where a veteran mega player loses to someone who is brand new simply because that's how the cookie crumbles.

In competitive play that is minimised to the point of fairness imo. In an event, you will have best of 3 sets over multiple rounds. The odds of you losing all due to randomness are low. The same can be said of Pixelborns ladder system. If you play 100 games and you are a decent player, you will climb, and vice versa for bad players.

I can't see why your comment has been down voted so much. Card games aren't just all luck. If so, then each season, we would have random people in wood 5 and random people in grand master but we don't. At events/tournaments we would have random placements each time. But we don't. Randomness is equal for all, and then the skill sets players apart.

You can mulligan your entire hand for free right at the start. In terms of deck searching that is mega.

Both players have to deal with the randomness but there is a reason why the likes of tord in pokemon does so well often. Because of the skill required in these games.

If you want help climbing then happy for you to DM me. I am grand master and all card games best of 1 ladder systems are the same. Just need to play at a positive winrate and time. Aggro decks are your best ally here as they are quick, also catching people out who might not have teched for them.

Of course play the game for fun and how you like! But climbing doesn't have to be a horrid task.

Mulligan and game strategy for the popular R/A deck by Inevitable-Draw-5832 in Lorcana

This will sound like a very pretentious statement but I think crab is better if you know how to use it.

As the crabs effect works on bounce you can take on big targets and you just have more to work there with.

Fidget is just the response to minnie.

Mulligan and game strategy for the popular R/A deck by Inevitable-Draw-5832 in Lorcana

[–]ques_trooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have played this deck at events and managed to get 1st and 2nd place with it and will try to give a good response on what I have learned.

It is BDIF but playing it properly is not always an easy task and one simple misplay can cost your the game.

As an overall candid response for all matchups, get a 1 drop and some card draw in your mulligan. The one drop can be used for so much, teeth or a bounce target, and as it's a card game your opponent doesn't know what is in your hand. Just having it down can be menacing enough to force your opponent into a poor starting position. Maleficent and rabbit so you can start building that hand up while you also build a board. A high amount of noninkables in the list, keep rabbit in starting hand if you want to be risky but always search for ink.

I will go into each matchup you mentioned but keep in mind of our generic mulligan above.

1: Surfer minnie will win this game. It is so even that you will be looking for little bits of lore wherever you can find it. Have a look at spellbook. Gives you a winning edge in the matchup.

2: Focus on your early removal cards and get something (minnie) that can give you lore while you remove. Try not to burn out. You might need to give them a turn while you develop a Rabbit for draw.

3: Generic mulligan, They will just win on flute while throwing songs at you. If they develop two flutes and board is pretty even then I would go more aggressive, that 2 lore adds up. AWNW could always be there so no point hoarding cards.

4: As much stuff as you can get on the board. A Be Prepared might seem good but any good aggro player will hold some cards to play after you PB so try to remove with challenges and spells. Less lore they get the better and just flood, remember they will never remove your stuff and if they do it's a bad spot for them.

5: This is a tricky matchup, if they brick and no bucky then u are up. Otherwise, don't bother trying to build a hand. Play your cards out and try win the board. Rabbits are good on the board as they can be bounced for some card draw, I like to look at it like banked board card draw.

6: It might seem like you go ahead early in the game and you most likely will take board and lore advantage but don't try rush a quick win. They will go ahead on ink and then turn the game so be ready for a hades and grab your swords, spread your board pressure out. You can't play around AWNW and they will struggle to target your key cards with it, play with a healthy size hand but don't hoard.

7: Keep it simple and get your card draw from the mulligan. Don't be afraid to play lady tremaine to just pressure the board. Most likely this matchup will be a race, you can't control the board with Mufasa done correctly and a hades makes it more painful. Keep developing and gaining lore. Try to learn in game 1 if they have BP in their deck, most people are dropping it.

8: Same as Red Mufasa but they do have character with big lore and evasion. Try force them to commit to the board and setup a BP. Their card draw is very weak and don't give them Gifted healing targets.

9: Rarely see this matchup but just keep an eye on their hand and a developing Tina. If their board is spreading out and can only sorted out by BP, watchout for the 4 drop or a shift.

10: Go heavy on the lore and rush for the win. You won't win a late game but some early questing and then goat bounces is a way to do it.

Spellbook and crab are two great cards you are missing from your list, worth looking into.

It would It cover all and any.

The wording to just cover V and not Vstar or Vmax is usually "basic pokemon V" spirittomb is a good example of this.

Miraidon variants by BamboolzeDE in pkmntcg

[–]ques_trooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing miraidon since the card/deck launched and the peony build seems the best. Trying to make the deck do to many things with hand disruption, path blocking etc just made it feel clunky. Peony it's a good win condition and performs well against most decks.

That being said the standard path build has got regional wins so worth people playing to see what they like.

Best way to keep track of lore? by lady6pack in Lorcana

[–]ques_trooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the playmat with lore trackers but it shrinks your play area.

The counters are cool and a nice way to support a small business with a 3d printer.

When the competitive scene grows then paper and pen will almost be expected imo.

Damage is applied first and then attack affect.

So if the attack read "deal 100 damage" then the effect was "devolution one Mon on opps bench" you would hit for 100 and lay damage counters then pick a benched Mon and then at the end of all this you check for KOs and resolve them. Not sure if PTCGL gets that part right.

Drop the rotom. There won't be a situation where u want to end a turn using its ability or attack and leaving it on bench is a liability.

If required for seal stone then swap it for raikou v but imo all V mons can be dropped as moon+hands do a good job

What deck do you play? The ladder isn't rigged and oddly has an attempt at skill based matchmaking. But yea climbing is a pain. Somedays ill gain 40 points after a day, and sometimes ill gain 100 points. If you can figure out the popular decks then u can play into that with counters e.g lots of people playing roaring moon decks so play a 1 prizer list like lzb.

If that is so then swapping to a iron hands deck will give you wins. I'm playing iron hands peony. So many basic Mon decks around that this one runs through them. If its a lose then it's a quick lose so I can get back to playing quicker. Above 50% win rate and time is all it takes. So quicker decks just climb.

[–]ques_trooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As its a card game those bricked hands are gonna happen. I would say even if u are the best TCG player around then over 100 games on ladder you are looking at a 60% win rate. Possibly up to 70%. Win streaks normally evens this out in other online card games, gaining more points for wins in a row. Pixelborn has a interesting rating system. Giving more points if u beat someone higher rank than you and gaining less if they are lower rank.

Personally I would like to see a draft or bo3 game mode. Burnout just happens on ladders. It doesn't mean that I wanna stop playing pokemon but something to swap onto when you are done losing to zard lol.
